Yet not all cars are the same. Driving the speed limit is not always driving safely. Sounds ridiculous, but it isn't. Speed differential is actually more dangerous than excessive speed.

The posted speed limit isn't the speed in which me driving my car can safely get from Point A to Point B (which might be the same as Point A).

What kind of car do you drive, if you don't mind me asking?

Hak likes Neuvirth better, but plays Mason much more often.

It must be because Mason has a stellar .912 SV% compared to Neuvirth's awful .911 in the Hakstol era.

LOL it is fun to throw in that career year for Neuvirth right? I bet that is part of what makes him like Neuvirth too though.

All I remember was a home depot and it was a poopty one at that. I (frank)ing hated driving down there in the summer. One time I was picking up my wife and heading straight to the shore (we were dating then) so I cut out early on a Friday. Left at 3:00 and didnt get to her house until 9:15. Made it to Cape May by mid night. Shoulda just went to the Outer Banks.
- jak521

Yeah, it's a big Home Depot but not the best. They have a Safeway, which is just an overpriced Acme. There's a few nice shops and a nice Chinese Buffet, but it's just a shopping center. The joys of living in Delaware/Maryland.

Yeah, traffic on 95 can be horrible in the summer. I take Route 40 back to NJ on Fridays.

Vokoun was the signing that season not Bryz.

Instead he goes to Pit to back up Fleury, Bob revolts at being the back up after having what was arguably the best rookie season by a Flyers goalie since Hexy and ends up in a Blue Jackets uniform for a packet of glitter, Leier and Cousins.

No, driving the speed limit is not always the best. And if people want to do +/- 5, whatever. it's the people who seem to NEED to do 20 mph over the speed limit and will race back and forth all over the road to do so. Sorry, you're not the most important person in the world, you don't need to go that fast (99% of the time).

Why would Hakstol base his goalie decisions on games played before he was coach when he's been the Flyers coach for 150 games now?

Mason is a starter with a career .911 SV% - Hakstol uses him as the starter.

Neuvirth is a backup with a career .911 SV% - Hakstol uses him as the backup.

If you're doing 70 instead of 55, what are you saving? 5, maybe 10 minutes?
- jmatchett383

@70mph you cover 55 miles ~7.9 minutes faster than @55mph

So, yeah, not really a great time saver. Law issues aside, it's a much less stressful drive if you just leave early enough to arrive on time.

IMHO, I would have never traded for the rights and then signed Bryz. I felt Bob was the guy. However, after the playoff run in 2011 and the way Lavy handled the goalies really put the Bob move in motion eventually.

Happy for him though that he's having success in Columbus.

I have relatives/friends that go to Delaware shore points and ask me to meet them in Lewes or Dewey or whatever.

Delaware shore traffic is my idea of hell. Way worse, in my experience, than South Jersey shore point traffic.

I will give you this, though: PA roads actually have a lower posted speed limit than the maximum safe driving speed, which is why several cops give you about a 10 mph buffer. Doesn't make it right or legal, but that's the truth.

I can't even man...You're right...Hakstol has no reason to pay attention to how good a player has been for several years

South Jersey shore traffic is only horrible if you leave at peak times. If you want to go, you'd better be on the expressway by 8AM, and you don't want to leave between 4 and 8PM. I'm usually out the door by 7 (I don't take the expressway, but I do need to deal with the Parkway) and I either leave by 4 at the latest or stay late.

Then have it go back to May of 2000 and tell Lindros to keep his head up on that first shift in Game 7.

PLind said that was the game where he began to expect the worst when it came to the Flyers. I may be paraphrasing a bit.

If that hit never happens, PLind may not be such a glass is half empty Debbie Downer.

A lot of speed limits haven't changed since the 70s, while cars have gotten much better and safer. I don't buy that you need to travel 65 mph on a highway in order to be "safe" Just like when the light turns yellow right in front of me because it is on some predetermined timer. I don't care to sit at it while I wait for no one else to go through because it is only "safe" when the light turns green. PA actually changed the law that allows you to go through red lights (not when you damn well please, but when you think it's malfunctioning)

Better yet, I'll go back to his formative hockey years and tell him that even though he's bigger and better than all the other kids he still needs to learn to keep his head up and on a swivel.

The Prius was a joke....I would never (sorry MOAT ). My dad and grandfather collect Studebakers. I collect "older" BMW's. I have owned/own a Jeep Cherokee, Civic Si, and a Hyundai Santa Fe Sport, as well.

How the hell did Leighton end up playing in that series? I'll never understand Laviolette's reasoning then. He just gave up on Bob.
