Montreal is going to be a very tough 1st round, and it would be a very tough first round even if we were on a 10 game winning streak right now
- jimbro83

Yes. Because of Weber and Price.

why should Montreal get home ice in the first round vs the Rangers yet still get to pick before the Rangers in the draft?
- jimbro83

Definitely fugazy. I see you been ranting about it on twitter and I agree Jimmy!

Playoff brackets are so (frank)ing dumb.

Just go back to best vs worst. There is almost no incentive to be the best you can during the season now.

- mdw7413

Under the old system, here would be the playoff brackets using the current standings:

Washington-Boston
Pittsburgh- Toronto
Montreal-Ottawa
New York-Columbus

Under current system:

Washington-Boston
Pittsburgh-Columbus
New York-Montreal
Ottawa-Toronto

Of course, under the old system the re-seeding after the first round provides a benefit to the team with the best record. I do like the old system better, although they could do it with two divisions, just giving the division champs the 1 and 2 seeds and then going by record after that.

yep, and if the Rangers played a 60 minute game last night and made everyone happy, Weber and Price still loom April 12th either way

Zucc and Kreider have been breaking their backs to get him pucks to shoot into a wide open net, lets not get too crazy.
Also on the game winning goal, he was in no mans land, watch the replay instead of sliding over with Burns who EVERYONE in the building knew was getting that puck, he just glided nowhere, not into a shooting or passing lane.

I'm not sold on his "resurgence" considering the goals he has put in are all into wide open nets on cross ice passes where the goalie gets caught and all he has to do is get good wood on the puck (he has missed a bunch of them as well)

I hope spending so much energy to get him goals and get him out of the funk doesn't change Zucc and Kreider come playoff time where they are still trying to feed him instead of putting a shot on net, the WIN is worth more than his goal total or confidence.

- MiloslavHorava

There was one great pass from Kreider to Zucc on the door step and he forced a pass to Step, Zucc needs to shoot more in those spots

Yes, and Columbus would have been in 4-5 matchup, because they would have finished second in the Southeast. Division champs would have been Pitt, Washington and Montreal, so they would have the top 3 seeds.

Aren't you? With all due respect, whatever amount that may be, the positive posts from a number of people on here are few and far between. Every single loss is treated like it's the end of the world. And after a win, it's like, "well, just wait. They'll (frank) up again."
As I've said before, I see faults. And I may comment on them, but this is the team I have thrown my allegiance to and I will defend them against any other team. For those who only female dog, you'd be better off not having a favourite and just cheering for the most likely winner each night.

in the Islanders 1981 Cup, they were first overall

they got to play the 16th overall team (Toronto)
they got to then play the 14th overall team (Oilers)
they then got to play the 13th overall team (Rangers)
and in the finals they got to play 9th overall team (North Stars)

they barely broke a sweat the entire playoff

We have a tough finish here -- Pens twice, Washington, Ottawa and Flyers.

And not a whole lot to play for.

Honestly, I barely even remember the 1 through 16 rankings. When did that change?

the only thing they have to play for is Ranger fans not killing themselves

really, the best thing they could do is lose and get better draft position
