I think Bof & Gudbrandson would be good captain material, do they need to name a C as soon as Hank is done...no, they can rotate the alternate Captains for a couple seasons.
It's not like this team will be competing for the cup in the next 3 seasons.

That post and conversation you replied to was on BB and if he had leadership qualities.
As for Bo. Well it will be year 4 of his NHL career. He should be able to handle it by then.
If not, depends on who's left among the older group. Not much there. Maybe Guddy but then how do you do that and take It a way later to give to Bo.
So it's probably a lock for 2018-2019 season that Bo gets the C; unless something drastic happens in player movement. - Nuck4U
I can really see Stecher wearing an A down the road |

I already suggested that if the timing is off. It was called little leaguish lol
EG would be an ok choice maybe. Its still too early to say. Cross that bridge when we get there. |

Another sign he's realized there is serious competition. If he wants to stand out he has to bring a power forward game. He will work hard I believe to prove that.
What may hold him back is his hockey IQ. Like how long it will take for him to get how to play at a higher level and consistently. - Nuck4U
He needs to clue in... he seems clueless all the time... He should take a few lessons from Bo and work hard on those aspects of his game that are weak...
Bo has improved every aspect of his game since joining the club. This guy should have clued in and done the same instead of coming into the club overweight and unprepared.
He does that again this summer and Nux should build him up in the AHL, showcase him a bit and maybe tempt a team to trade a legit guy back... If only we'd offered him up and some parts for Drouin... |

He did it the entire run in 2011... I forget the quotes now but made no shortage of posts about it back during the playoffs that year..."Rene's haircut", "Recchi is too old", "Thomas is showing cracks, should of had that one", he had stuff to say about the Hawks players and Sharks players as well... everyone was laughing at his Rodney Dangerfield routine... I just saw a guy putting himself first when ever there was a camera/mic around... he was always that way... it's all funny til you lose a cup... - boonerbuck
Talking Smack, trash talk its all just talk.
Walk the walk & talk the talk. Bieksa never did that.
Still chasing the cup he is. |

Prolly those same ppl never played competitive sports & believe popular choices r the correct choices. If general consensus mattered there would be more geniuses😂👍 - Nighthawk
Someone sounds salty. Do you hate Bo Horvat or something? |

You only play musical captains if no one player is particularly deserving of the honor.
When you have a guy like Bo who's mature beyond his years, foaming at the mouth to compete, producing, has the respect of everyone in the organization... Why play around & wait to give him the C?!? Dude would get bunions filling Henrik's shoes. |

He shot himself in the foot trying to bulk up and screwing the pooch on that. But that's old news now.
The hockey IQ. Yeah like I said it's a concern. He's got the toolbox though to find enough to make it work. |

I don't give anyone the C til its permanent.
Use 3 A's til the time is right. |

who takes over in 15 months when Henrik retires? We don't exactly have any other options - CanuckDon
Elder is the obvious choice. He after all should be the poster child for cream puff of the year. I good hit every six games and always first to avoid standing up for teammates. |

U spin the wheel & an A lands on Stecher.
Its not the 1970 Vancouver Buffalo draft position wheel. |

ugh you just know Edler will never waive his NMC (he's got a good one), our soft defence starts at this guy |

What exactly is hockey IQ other than jock speak?
For me its being a student of the game & never getting complacent.
Never thinking enough is enough & there is always more to do. |

What? I like Stecher, he's tough as hell, has a great shot, works hard in his own zone, easily my favourite player on this team. I think if he keeps this up, an A isn't random...
make a post that doesn't give me cancer, and I won't pick it apart. |

I have to say, there are worse things than a budding power forward in the league to put on too much weight, I'd prefer him heavy so he can destroy guys in the NHL, but obviously he needs to stay in shape
Virtanen is definitely an interesting piece for this team's future if he can prove he can play top 6 |

Bieksa was one of the more selfish players we had in that last generation. He would be a horrible captain. Look how many times he put himself ahead of the team in the playoffs and stood in front of camera's/mics giving the team we are playing billboard material over and over whether it was Ferland in the Calgary series or players in every series in our entire 4 rounds of playoffs in 2011... Look how many times the Sedins or someone else was taken out with a run from behind, elbow, sucker punch and Bieksa does nothing more than ask the player "you wanna go" but dare to slash his shins during play or make fun of him and he'll chase you all night making that player his own personal assignment... Let's not forget that he knocked a team mate out in public in Winnipeg for mouthing him off... in front of other players on his team... once again, his own ego above everything else. Then there was the famous Bieksa/Kesler clique in the dressing room... they were not very good with young players coming in... why people think that jack ass would be a good captain is beyond me...
 - boonerbuck
He was an AV favorite. Only thing I can say is Nucks don't seem to have any type like him now on the team or in their system. Though I see why you redflagged JV now with this take.
I think the kid just made immature mistakes. You think with what he's doing of late we will see him better in camp? |

so, why aren't you in the NHL? you seem to have it all figured out. - Crazybagoham
I applied it to my hockey & baseball. It got me more success & fun as much as that could be. Not everyone is destined to a pro career. Ppl like u cannot comprehend what athletes do other than work hard & lift weights & score points. Idk if u would ever get the point i am making til u try it if not too late. |
