Stamkos has been skating lately ... let's hope it isn't today he comes back - that would be motivation for the Bolts the Hawks would be hard pressed to overcome with the way they've been playing lately. |

IMO the Hawks will finish as the top seed in the West, but they do need to get their game back to where it was before Anisimov was injured. His absence has hurt the Toews line as well as the Panarin/Kane line.
While waiting for the playoffs to start and wondering who the Hawks first round opponent will be, I'm thinking about the following possible Hawks' roster for 2017-18 (with cap hits per Capfriendly.com at https://www.capfriendly.com/teams/blackhawks:
14 Forwards:
Kane 10.500M
Toews 10.500
Hossa 5.275
Anisimov 4.550
Panarin 6.000
Panik 2.000 * (estimated, assumes 0.500 hometown discount)
Schmaltz .925
Hayden .925
Hartman .863
Kero .750
Tootoo .700
Debrinkat .809 (or Motte at .925)
Fortin .685 (or Motte at .925)
Vinny .717
Subtotal 45.199
7 D-men:
Seabrook 6.875
Keith 5.538
Hammer 4.100
Campbell 1.500* (estimated, assumes he re-signs for current salary)
Kempny .700* (estimated, assumes he re-signs for current salary)
Forsling .872
Snuggerud .767 (or Rozy at .650; assumes TVR will be taken by Las Vegas)
Subtotal 20.352
2 Goalies:
Crawford 6.000
Glass .612
Subtotal 6.612
Total 72.163M
Bonuses: Per Secondcityhockey.com, the likely carryover bonus from 2016-17 is 1.982M if Panarin doesn't hit his Schedule B bonus, or 3.708M if he does. http://www.secondcityhock...artemi-panarin-bonuses-20
Thus, the total cap hit for 2017-18 for this roster would be either 74.145M or 75.871M. Bottom line: hope the cap goes up to the $76M rumored recently!
Note that Panarin not hitting his bonus might enable the Hawks to re-sign Oduya for up to $2.5M in place of Snuggerud/Rozy. So would trading Crow and re-signing Darling for no more than $4.2M. |

Good thought process but . . .
You may be over-indexing on rookies/youngsters and while I agree with Panik's value, as an RFA, he doesn't have that much leverage. You may be a tad high on where he ends up salary wise (like 10%) (or not high).
Also, I STRONGLY doubt Jeff Glass is the Hawks' primary backup next season to Corey Crawford.
The final roster may hold at least one significant surprise (to some). |

John Jaeckel: Hawks/Bolts Gameday Preview - John Jaeckel
Greetings from sunny Tampa fellow Hawks posters. Sadly in town here as my mother- in-law passed away last week...busy time here, but going tonight.
Some notes from the local paper down here...
Stamkos practiced yesterday, but did not take part in PP drills. Jon Cooper didn't give an update on Stamkos' status. Paquette skated as well and could play this evening. Both Johnson and Garrison skated, but are out tonight.
Let's hope the Hawks put in a better effort this evening than Saturday. Tampa is close to a playoff spot and is playing desperate. They'll come to play tonight for sure.

Is it bad that I think the Hawks will get rolled again tonight? They'll play better but TBL has been huge lately and they're in desperation/layoff mode already. |

Part B Bonus update
Panarin - G 42nd, A 11th (one back, however there's four players tied for tenth and two others tied with him) Pts 12th (four points back along with four other players), 20th PPG
AA being out has hurt Panarin's chances of securing the Pat B bonus money to some degree. |

He isn't taking PP shifts in practice yet, I wouldn't worry too much. |

Is Panarin's bonus for being 10th or better based on forwards? If so, then he moves up because of Burns and/or Karlsson being ahead of him. |

Number's I posted took that into consideration, all were based on forwards only. |

Hartman may not have played his best game on Saturday, but I don't think he deserves to be scratched (if he's healthy). |

Message sending time for Coach Q. That Unsportsmanlike penalty was a huge turning point in that game. IF Hartman is a healthy scratch, then I doubt he'll say a peep to an official the rest of this season.... |

He deserves to be scratched for yapping at the ref and getting another 2 minutes which resulted in the 5 on 3 when Kruger took a penalty a couple mins later. He's a rookie and his job is to play and keep his mouth shut when it comes to talking to the refs. It would do him good to sit for a game and get that firmly understood.

I really dont know why Q is forcing Desjardans into the lineup? In each game he's played he's taken a bad offensive zone penalty. He provides no offense, whatsoever, and Rasmussen is just as competent defensively while actually making plays with the puck to create scoring opportunities. I'd much prefer Moose in the lineup for Round 1 over Desi, but I don't think that will happen.... |

I tend to believe that will be the case. Looks like Q may have made an uncharacteristic change today:
Chris Hine @ChristopherHine
Changes today may also include the goaltender. Defensemen are taking shots at Scott Darling as skate wraps up, a sign he could be starting |

Could be that Rasmussen is banged up. I'm sure that round 1 will tell us who Q has faith in. He tends to sit to dead weight and go with the more skilled guys come playoff time. |

From ProHockeyRumors.com, "4) KHL Free Agent Asking Prices – KHL forwards Vadim Shipachyov and Evgeni Dadonov are expected to be highly sought after this summer but teams that are interested better be prepared to pay up. Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported on Wednesday that Shipachyov is seeking a contract with an AAV of $5.5MM while Dadonov is looking for $3.5MM per year. Shipachyov was third in KHL scoring with 76 points in 50 games and has yet to play at the NHL level. "
Looks like we can cross Shipachyov off the list of possible FA signings for this summer. Don't think the Hawks can add another player at $5.5 mil, unless other major changes occur. |

He also had a couple of penalties in the previous game - against Dallas - a fighting major and a minor.
Didn't he have a rep in the A for taking bad penalties? |
