I like this idea that Schultz played for sentimental reasons...........because that totally sounds like something Hakstol would do. He played because Hakstol thought he gave them the best chance to win, and that's pretty much it.
His default mode is to coach every game like there's no tomorrow. He plays Schultz for sentimental reasons and risks making the team worse? All while playing Ghost and Konecny on the 4th line and as the #6 d man, each playing like 3 shifts in the 3rd period and benched the final half of the period. Does that sound like a coach who has any ulterior motives, except to do whatever it takes to win, as he sees it, no matter how meaningless the game? |

I wouldn't - YuenglingJagr
You Weise-loving wackos sicken me.
But seriously, a 4th is probably too much to give up just to change which forward Vegas take. |

Sanheim for Rantanen is something I might consider. Need a pick coming back too though. - hereticpride
IMO I would not even think of moving Sanheim before Meyers (2 concussions) Hagg or even Morin. I think this kid is going to track upward and upward after that.

Would you:
Trade Simmer, Sanheim, and our first to Colorado for Duchene, Rantanen and the top pick? - jak521
Don't know if I would do that one, even though I do want to move a core player.
I would look to improve 4th line with physical players so I would trade
Raffl for Roussel ( who is a Richard but plays a good role and kills penalties)
Try to acquire Reaves from STL to bring a physical element to the team aside from having a leading scorer be our most feared player
Roussel, PEB, Reaves.... Different look. Hell of a lot better than what they got now
Roussel could play a solid 3rd line role if need be.
Flyers need more toughness and character |

If he was that good, how come career AHLers like Brennan and O'Neill are scoring better than him? |

You're absolutely right. What coach in his right mind would do whatever it takes to win. That's not a coach that I'd want.

So what are you saying? Career AHLers one who one he is tied with in points and another who is leading the team in scoring as a dman and the kid isn't good? Am I wrong to think trading him is not a good idea. and you say career pluggers BS

Just like every other coach.
As far as your last statement, I recognize the coach as the superior authority to myself, and refrain from acting like an expert and criticizing every single decision he makes. There's any number of decisions just from last night's game that I could drum up criticism for, but I don't see reasons to nitpick.

jeez I buy tickets to 1 Flyers game this year, not through the Flyers, and now I am getting hounded by them. 3 calls this week from 215-218-PUCK......leave me alone I don't want to pay anymore for this crapfest.... |

It is all explained by the playoff push. As jmatchett has pointed out earlier....there is a clear path to the playoffs...so he should be doing everything it takes to win these games. |

It is funny how since he came from college everyone assumes he is great with developing younger players |

So it's OK to be scoring less than veterans if they get easier ES minutes and are used more on the PP if you're Travis Sanheim.
But not if you're Scott Laughton.
Your hypocrisy is the point. |

There is plenty of evidence that suggests that he has a lot of experience in dealing with young players and developing a successful college hockey program with a continuing turnover of players.

Yes, as long as those younger players play with veteran maturity and make few mistakes. |

Did you know he scratched Jonathan Toews at UND so he could watch from the press box? Toews has gone on to become the 3rd overall pick and is fighting for his 4th Stanley Cup! |
