I dont even care what Mac makes. I just dont like him playing 20+ minutes a night..
If he were playing 15 a night and not against top forwards every shift I think he would do much better. - jak521
MacDonald does not belong in the role he is currently in, or that he has been placed in for the majority of his career. |

But isn't that the best way to evaluate the role that a player should be in? For example, if a player is used as a top-4 defenseman for the majority of his career spanning 2 different teams and a variety of coaches, wouldn't you say he's a top-4 defenseman? |

The need to defense the PK usage of VDV/Bellemare is as baffling as the coach's need to use them on the PK. You know why we don't know if other forwards would be better? It's because they don't try!
- YuenglingJagr
NHL teams don't just try things out and let it stick to the wall in games. I would speculate that the forward PK rotation that they use, is based on individual analysis of each player's performance, and what they see when they do actually give things a try, which is likely during practice.
How do you honestly expect improvement if you aren't willing to make a change?
- YuenglingJagr
The fact that they moved Simmonds into the forward PK rotation shows that they are willing to make a change.
We do know the Flyers have had a below average PK for quite some time now.
We do know that VDV and Bellemare are the worst forwards on the team.
- YuenglingJagr
The worst overall forwards can still be the best PK forwards.
We do know they get the most PK time.
We do know they aren't the only 2 players on the ice during a PK.
We do know that there really aren't other defensemen on the Flyers to replace any of them.
We do know that there ARE other forwards on the Flyers to replace VDV and PEB.
Yet for some reason the idea that they should be replaced needs opposition. For what? So we can watch the same PK that has sucked during the last 10 games of the year? What is the harm in trying something else? - YuenglingJagr
There is no harm is just trying something. It doesn't need opposition, it just needs objectivity. As if the possibility that if they're replaced that it could be worse, doesn't exist and that the Flyers aren't operating from a more informed position. |

Just say blow it up like some do, without any real suggestion, and offer that genius analysis, and then suggest that team management is incompetent for not following that simple easy fix. - MJL

I'm a member of Team Apathy at the moment. Like, I really don't care at this point. I'm hoping that the young players play well. I'd like to see some more life from G and Jake. Maybe they call up a player or two from LV, I'd like to see how they do.
But in general, very meh right now. |

I agree with you on this and hopefully it's made possible by the influx of the D prospects but currently there is no one for those extra minutes to go to.
Provorov is averaging 22 and more recently 25.
4 others are averaging around 20 minutes a game: Macdonald, Ghost, Gudas and MDZ.
Manning/Schultz are getting between 15-18 minutes which is probably too much as well. |

MacDonald is being used as a top pairing defenseman, matched up against top lines regularly, and as a top pairing PK defenseman. |

Yeah, they've been a consistent team since the 04/05 lockout, making the playoffs a whopping one time. Finally, after 12 years, they look like they're on the right path.
Hopefully the Flyers can follow that format. |

Couturier, ATOI SH - 1:47, GA/60: 7.8
Simmonds, ATOI SH - 1:31, GA/60: 6.0
Numbers look pretty close. - J35Bacher
