Calling Matthews disinterested and that no other top rookie goes through slumps is what made people angry.
Every damn rookie has gone through at LEAST one big slump his year. Even Crosby went for an 8 game goaless streak - Santo_44
The statement was that no one else went through 3 dry spells like he did this year.
The further comment was that he was also not creating anything during this most recent slump. It isn't like he hit 47 goalposts in the most recent stretch or Hyman (frank)ed up 7 golden opportunities a game.
I can chalk it up to being a rookie, tired, focusing on his 200' game... whatever.
Ignoring the truth that these little "slumps" happen and getting annoyed at someone for pointing it out is kind of silly. |

You started getting on Matthews way back in the WCOH. Remember when he was supposed to be a spare player and ended up on the top line? You still found fault in his game. McDavid didn't play very good in that tournament but Matthews was in your crosshairs for some stupid reason and you've carried it right through the season. Earlier in the session you were counting his hits for (frank) sakes. Are you sure you're not an Oilers fan? Because the Leafs having some success eats those guys up inside. |

You can also use 1channel, thevideo.me source as long as you have a video.me link on a computer on your network to pass the kaptcha test. - Aetherial
Awhile back you mentioned you had issues playing Prosport on Kodi...fyi I'm using version .83 and it works great. |

I don't understand why so many are complaining about you saying this. I pretty much agree... his most recent dry spell - which I saw differently than the big one earlier in the year - he wasn't generating much of anything - although for the most part still playing decent defensively. I think if people look objectively at one stat and one stat only ... his shots on goal have been trending down.
To me he's looked more tired than anything... better the past few games again... but definitely tired and less energetic after the All-Star break. |

You guys take poop too far sometimes
No matter how much you break it down there's always the human element that numbers can't show. Numbers people can only draw little graphs and poop that shows what has already happened, they can't show or predict the future. I never see charts and graphs that show how (frank)ing wrong they always are.
I choose to 100% ignore stats that weren't being used 30 years ago.. it takes all the fun out of the game discussing stupid numbers that only those narcs who apparently have too much time on their hands can understand. I know it's only shooting % being discussed, but still.. - Arctic_AARDVARK
the ONLY thing that matters... particularly on HNIC on a Saturday night... is Hughson%.... unless the Leafs are somehow winning - then its the mysterious "goalie calmness stat".

I think it's more the way other teams are defending against him. He doesn't have any space to skate like earlier in the season. They're playing him close and tying up his stick. Sometimes even double teaming him. |

All players have slumps. If they didn't the top ten players would all finish the season with sixty goals. The reason everyone laughs at Atherial is because he's been on Matthews all season, about just about everything.

I don't remember getting on him in the WCOH, in fact, I pointed out many times how he was outperforming Eichel. I may have said before the tournament that he would see limited action purely from a point of view of experience, but to be honest, I don't even recall mentioning that.
Counting hits? WTF are you talking about.

Like all the times I pointed out what an amazing play he made, like everyone else here.
I have noted, 3 times this season, that he wasn't on his game. I agree with someone else here tonight who mentioned that the first "slump" did look markedly different than the most recent one. He was snakebitten in the first slump, but he was also playing a lot on the perimeter.
I was also not alone in my observation, each time.
I have not been "getting on" him. I was also probably the first one to defend picking him 1st overall, and point out his linemates and roll on the team, and never did I ever suggest we should have taken Laine instead.
Seriously idiot, put some effort into understanding the entirety of what someone writes, or just (frank) off.
... The reason it seems like I am always on him is because I stupidly bother to defend myself against the myriad of idiotic comments, like yours for instance, every time I fail to verbally felate the guy. So that a minor comment becomes a major (frank)ing deal. |

Yeah, I think at the start of the season teams knew he'd be a very good rookie, but now he leads the league in even strength goals. He's the guy you game plan against when you play the Leafs now. |
