Glad the guys are getting back on the ice right away after last night. Forget about the puck not finding it's way into the net last night. One of those nights. Hope they can keep up their current play and the pucks will start going in!!! Don't take them too lightly either.

If by the "ref's job" you mean the refs should call penalties based solely on the rule book - not influenced by score, how many penalties has been called against one team versus the other, or any other subjective reason to not call a penalty when the rule book calls it a penalty - then I ask you when was the last time you watched an NHL game where the refs "did their job"? And I say that realizing the sentiment that no one wants the refs to slow the game down and turn it into a never ending parade to the penalty box - so I get that it will never happen and don't disagree with the rationale for why it will never happen. So we're left with some subjective hybrid of ref'ing that every fan base rightly complains about. It's just the way it is.

Since the days of John Ashley and Bill Friday, the refs in the NHL have always been part of the show. Unfortunately.

So...

...do the Hawks straighten things out tonight? Or is a losing streak beginning?

Classic case of a team trying to realize a players potential based on a change of scenery. Plus he was a cheap buy. Jurco has talent but I don't think he's an NHL player. The game seems too fast for him and I don't think he has good hockey IQ. He's used up all the excuses. Injuries, lack of ice time and lack of quality linemates. This is his last chance. Unless he ends up in Vegas next season. If he can't score tonight versus the Wings then he might never score. I hope he does well but I gave up on his potential 2 years ago.

Watching just his games with the Hawks, I agree. Like I posted a few weeks ago, some guys (like Schmaltz) have "it", most guys don't. Jurco don't!

Resign him for the minimum, will give us more draft exposure options.

I still believe that is why Jurco was acquired.

Got to love Edzo, Pat and him are talking about Wes McCauley, one of tonight's refs and he says...."there's a lot of good ones and Wes is one of them" after Pat gushes about the depth of good officials in the league. Yikes, they serving the hard stuff in the Joe's press box tonight?

It looks like 7-1 may be a more realistic outcome.

Edit: I am wrong quite often, as per my wife

TVR did ok with tying up Abdul-Kadir, thus avoiding getting his azz kicked.

Figures...

Garbage shift leads to the equalizer.

Hawks look like crap...not showing much interest.

Perhaps they'll show up for the Wild Sunday.
