Very entertaining game last night, thought it looked like from the start that the Hawks were gonna skate these guys out of the rink. Lots of shots on goal, mostly from the outside, hardly no net traffic.
Getszlaf , if , for a big guy that is supposed to play physical and being the CAPTIAN , kind of riding shot gun for your team ,his display against Richard Panik, Getzlaf couldn't punch his way out of a wet paper bag and was cheap for throwing a punch while Panik had the jersey over his head????? One word P...Y!
And Panik? Love what he is bringing, but if you are gonna be the so called hit leader and hockey is about finishing your checks ,every now and then your are gonna run into a situation like last night ya better be prepared to answer whether it is warranted or not . Panik......... he couldn't punch his way out of an imaginary wet paper bag. Double P word!
The Ducks had the recipe , especially Josh Manson, (how I wish we had a kid like this , or his Daddy who also was one of my all time Hawk favorites) employing some old tyme hockey tactics in last nights game. I am sure dad told him, these guys skate like the wind, just hit them, keep them to the outside and they will fold like a bad hand in a poker game!
In our section, a number of us fans were commenting , " not one Hawk to step up and send a message back " "Not in our building, not against our young players!". That is embarrassing to not answer that bell when liberties ,even though the Ducks calmed down after awhile, are being taken against your players on your home ice.
We sorely need a player who can take notice of that and answer that type of stuff.
When Manson cross checked Schmaultz, someone should have checked him on that.
Maybe Hartman thought about it ,but Charlie jr . Would have beat Hartman all over the ice like a drum. So Hartman thought better of it probably.Seabrooke? Joke, he's fat and happy now, he's not gonna do that.not every Ref will call stuff, come playoff time, Refs tend to put their whistles in their pockets and let them play it out.
Scouts take notice of this as far as the recipe to beat the Hawks and I am sure teams like the Blues who a lot are writing off already will amp up the physical part of their game come playoff time.
People will point back to the 13&15 teams and the crap the Ducks said ,but this isn't those teams, while this one looks promising , it is younger in some areas, not saying they couldn't be successful also, but be prepared for a nightly plate of shenanigans come playoff time.
As far as last night, The Ducks played a perfect road game or better yet had the perfect recipe how to beat the Hawks, Weather their fancy bull crap, hit em, keep em to the perimeter, let em shoot from the outside all day and you'll be successful most nights. Need more hard work and down right dirty close in net play come playoff time , otherwise ,last nights game was a fun one to attend as a hockey fan regardless of the outcome.
