Hackstol loves Mason. Confusingly so.
He'll hide Mason from Washington and put him out there again against Buffalo. - LindsayCarson
I have the exact opposite feeling. I think Hack doesn't trust Mason at all and looks for any excuse to NOT play him. Be it Neuvirth faltering or injury...either way, it all depends on Neuvirth.
Right now Mason is on a roll. But if he loses next game even if it is 1-0, Neuvirth is back in.

Why would you take the word of an NHL veteran over the opinion of a veteran of an NHL message board? - Feanor
I'm weird like that. |

Says the guy who spent all of last season arguing Luke Schenn was a better player to keep around than Radko Gudas. - Feanor
Wow, this isn't a reach for an argument and it isn't even 10am yet. Wake up on the wrong side of the bed? |

Exactly this.
No evidence to base this on, but just seems like Neuvirth gets a longer leash from Hack than Mason does. |

What would Filppula say if Hakstol put him on the Power Play right away? Complain?
"Damn that Coach! I don't want Power Play time, it's too soon!"

Gostisbehere was shooting the puck, but still missing the net in key opportunities. He also struggled in his own end. That was the first game watching Weal play where I thought he might be able to play in the NHL. He had a strong game. - MJL
He played angry. I think the type of player he is (size and skill level etc), needs to play angry. He had a nice strong game. |

Yeah, took away the one criticism in what was a positive post directed at the team. |

Agreed, and it goes back since the beginning.
Even when Hack went with Neuvirth opening day even though I felt Mason outplayed him during the preseason. It was a slap. |

lol
You said he's a vet and doesn't need to be "worked in."
He said he'd prefer to have had some time to talk to the staff and team and have some practices before a game.
I really do not understand how this is confusing to you. |

He would prefer it. That's fine but what is he suppose to say if he was called upon to play on the PP right away? "No, it's too soon?" |

Both players are going to get high minutes in all situations. Assign whatever number you want to them. Yes Couturier is a better player than you stated. The criticism for missing tjat renound shot on a bouncing puck is unwarranted. |

Based on what I saw last night, Filppula is gonna take a lot of pressure off Giroux, Couturier and Bellemare. Giroux especially. |

I didn't mention that, obviously would have liked to see him bury that but not the easiest play. If we can get that Schenn-Val-Jake line going and it balances out the bottom 6 I think we can get in to the playoffs. Obviously goal tending has to do their part as well which I'm not too sure of. |

This isn't an answer. You're telling me if Giroux, Voracek or Simmonds were traded and the coach asked them to play on the PP right away, they should decline?
I'm sorry, did I pick a fight with you this morning? It's always everyone else, isn't it?? |
