I think the Kings should be sellers, not giving away young defensemen

Cernak may not turn out to be anything. I'd worry about Lundquist getting one more year older with ZERO CUPS

If Cernak is not even a top 10 prospect for LA then its a pretty low return for Tampa, which makes it hard to think that there was much demand for BB. So while the other points make sense, the idea they were keeping him away from their rivals doesn't seem too likely.

Not a lot of demand for a goalie with a 5.95 mil cap hit that is a UFA this summer and has injury problems.

I doubt he gets traded, but I don't think he'll be resigned this offseason unless he takes a six-figure salary.

I would really like to see Dean move some of these bottom six guys for some picks. Bottom six needs some retooling.

74 is a sutter fave, even though there's a gaggle of bottom 6 fwds in the system. agree i think he sticks around until the offseason, and then i pray they utilize their cap dough wisely...

I dont think Sutter is around next year. Unless LA plays outstanding to finish this year and crawl into the plays.

Lombardi has hinted toward being done with trades and nothing is in the works for the deadline. Now that I sat with this move for Bishop, it makes sense. I am thankful for Budaj and what he did, but he was not going to be any better than he was in those 54 games or so.

We all know Lombardi will say there is nothing in the works and then turn around and make a deal. So what is it that we have now if we wanted to deal and who would we actually deal for?

you can scratch Iginla, thats not going to happen because of obvious reasons. Mark Streit has been linked to rumors but I don't see that being a stand alone trade and if it does happen it will be in conjunction with a trade for a forward.

Patrick Sharp seems the most real potential move so far and then we have the pipe dream of landing Duschene. those are the ones that make sense, and if they are landed I could see a move for Streit happening as well

so what pieces do we have?

Kyle Clague, Zach Leslie, Jake Muzzin, Brayden McNaab, Michael Mersche, Johnny Brodzinski, Alex Lintuniemi, Nick Shore, Dwight King, and now we have a pick or 2 to use as bait.

Maybe that list is more of what I would be willing to lose but I think really it's all we got to offer, and maybe you could throw Gaborik in there as a salary dump.

My gut tells me Dean is done with moves, but I think there is a package that could be made from our spare parts so maybe he will pull something out of his a$$.

I honestly do wish that LA took this season for what it is and sold off assets and did some retooling. Weather its full roster stuff or roster and management. Whatever. Just view everything around you and adapt to it and retool. The players know how to play defense. But what makes them no inept to being creative offensively? Team lacks creativity.

Boyle would have been a nice piece to bring back to LA. He has turned into a player that fits into LA's system. Early in his time the team tried to make him into something he wasn't.

I think Kopitar has the mumps! That was piss poor...

You can't help but wonder if Kopitar's low confidence contributed there. I can't imagine, if he were producing like past seasons, that he would've looked so lost and pathetic on that play. After all, his faceoff % is his worst in 6 seasons, so that's likely being affected. By all means, though, continue waiting for the problem to fix itself from within, Lombardi

Exposed again!!! I hope McNabb comes out of the lineup when Ladue is ready. Nice blind backhand pass thru our slot a-hole.

That was a really bad decision, but you shouldn't want McNabb out of the lineup. He's the team's strongest defender after Doughty, as the relevant stats bear out. In each of CA60, GA60, +/- and SV%, he's either ahead of or just behind Doughty.

That goal that was created by his blind pass was only McNabb's 11th 5v5 goal that he's allowed all season. He allows a 5v5 goal only once every three games. Compare that with Muzzin, who has allowed a team-leading 54 5v5 goals and nearly one every game.

Out of curiosity and diligence, I ran the numbers to see what it worked out to per 60 minutes...

5v5 GA/60
======
McNabb 1.32
Doughty 1.44
Gravel 1.51
Forbort 1.76
Martinez 2.93
Muzzin 3.00

You might argue usage, but, last year, as Doughty's partner, McNabb's 5v5 GA/60 was still only 1.66 and pretty close to Doughty's 1.59.

McNabb just doesn't put up many points to dazzle and distract. Still, against those 11 5v5 GA of his this season, he has 15 5v5 GF. 15 isn't many, but it's more than 11. Compare that to Muzzin's 54 5v5 GA and only 38 5v5 GF. It's criminal that, because Muzzin has 38 GF to his name, those 54 GA of his are mostly ignored, while seemingly every single one of McNabb's mere 11 GA get heavily scrutinized.

If anything is getting "exposed," it's a double standard. Players who put up points are excused of any number of mistakes, but players who don't aren't excused of any. It's a shame that there's little appreciation for defensive defensemen any more. In fact, I'm sure that most Kings fans would clone Muzzin 5 times if they could, not realizing that, over the last 3 seasons, he's been on the ice for 14 more even-strength goals against than for, compared to 28 fewer for McNabb.

I guess Ben Bishop will soon enough learn how Sutter does things (but probably has already).

You see, in Sutter's world you score one maybe two goals a game through a fortunate bounce or deflection and the goaltender must produce a shutout in every game. If goalie does not produce said shutout it is neither the fault of the offense or defese but the goalie.

Have a wonderful stay.
