Carolina's D has been excellent. Pesce and Slavin have overtaken faulk in ice time and hanifin probably projects to as well. Fleury and Bean coming through the system, they may be inclined to move faulk while his value is up to address a need at forward.

Edit: didn't Homie and 89 both bring up faulk at last years draft?

A few days ago, I posted a cut from the Canes blogger that disagrees with this completely. The posters in that thread couldn't agree more. I grant you Slavin appears to be having a good year, but the blogger suggested that the Canes D was AHL quality and responsible for the train wreck record since the new year.

How have they regressed? They need 9 wins in their last 20 to equal least year. Their PP is deadly. PK sucks. They lost their best player for 20 games. That's equal to at least a handful more wins. They're at least tied with Toronto or in a wild card spot with a healthy Jack.

Prospect pool? We won both of those major trades. Kane and O'Reilly are the best players in those trades. They're both young and have many, many NHL years ahead of them. You want to hold on to prospects forever like toy cars on a shelf?

Fix the damn PK, plus a healthy Jack, add a defenseman or two and this team is in business.

Almost everyone on here seemed to be buying the 95 point team that Bylsma and GMTM were selling.

Spinning their wheels basically amounts to regression at this point.

There are serious problems in this organization. Pegula has been largely disconnected since purchasing the Bills. Russ Brandon has his ear, and Brandon is all about the Bills.

GMTM has made several mistakes in doling out bad contracts that have this mediocre team pressed firmly against the Cap.

Eichel does not like the HC and at times has acted like a petulant child.

Samson's not as dedicated to improving his game - as cited by WGR beat reporter Paul Hamilton who has noted that #23 has been conspicuous in his absence from training sessions that he participated in last season.

ROR either has a nagging injury OR is already starting to show wear and tear from his style of play.

Risto is a train wreck in the advanced stats department.

The prospect pool lacks star power.

After all the suffering this franchise has endured getting to the bottom, we should be far ahead of where we currently sit.

Job #1 for this organization is bringing in a respected winner to either be the HC or have a prominent position in the front office. Someone that will immediately command the attention of Eichel, Samson and Risto. Otherwise these key pieces will never realize their vast potential.

I don't remember specifically, but back in July & August when most were gushing about this team's playoff potential I was suggesting that regression was a more likely outcome and just got crushed on here for having that viewpoint.

At the time I was making many of the same points about the flawed roster and GMTM's mismanagement of assets.

To be fair, I also believed that goaltending would be a disaster and have been proven wrong on that point.

I did not think coaching was going to be a problem and was unaware of the contempt that many of the team's best players have for Bylsma.

Addition by subtraction is the reason we haven't necessarily regressed.

Bailey, E rod, Carrier and Baptiste in for guys like Grant, D lo, Larsson

Now subtract Bogo, Kuli Gorges and add better

Just out of curiosity but what makes you so sure Guhle won't be a top 4 next year, he certainly looked like one when he got a few games earlier this year
- mattmoulson

Because, rightly or wrongly, he believes the Detroit model is the only way to go, or so it seems.

Guhle should absolutely be on the bottom pairing next year, and see how he does from there.

Very sad.

His legacy for me will always be A Simple Plan and Frailty.

Both were outstanding.

Doesn't need it and no we shouldn't; especially since jack missed all those games.
Once we drop the dead weight and our younger guys are up full time we will be better than fine.

Attempted to buy something today myself, but won't find out the result of the attempt until Monday.

Can't remember if it's Stash or Joch, but it's along those lines.
