I was with you until you said "Ghost."
Edit: You are aware that Bishop is a UFA at season's end, right? Just making sure. - jmatchett383
Yes. Depends on other offers Tampa gets I suppose, but it's tempting he prob has a few seasons of great goaltending to give until our prospects are ready. Is it worth it? I don't know but if we give up ghost I want draft sweetener in the form of a 1st |

Yes, but why trade a top prospect/pick for him when you can sign him on July 1st? |
|
|
|
How so? - jmatchett383
MacDonald, Wiese, and Read are about 11 million I think. |

This is why I give no credence to the rumor whatsoever. Well that, and the fact it comes from Ek.

And how are they "dead" this year? Haven't they all been playing recently, with Weiss being a 50/50 scratch??? That's not "dead" money. Unproductive, maybe. |

Oh, it's not gonna happen because:
1) TB is not trading Drouin
2) Bishop is a UFA.
The goalie swap makes sense, but past that...nah. Honestly, if it was MDZ and Neuvirth for Bishop, I'd do it since we're talking all UFAs. |

Not to mention he's on the wrong side of 30.
You could probably trade Ghost to them for Drouin straight up and that would be a far better deal IMO.
That said I don't have much interest in moving Ghost right now. I think you can get picks from MDZ and Streit and hopefully do something with them to get yourself more help. |

To think 11 million in dead money again next year. Brutal. - PLindbergh31
I don't like a player, so the amount of money they count against the cap is "dead".
You have bizarre thought patterns. |

Giving up pieces for a 30 year old upcoming UFA goaltender who you will then be forced to overpay for since you gave up the assets.
Injury history, and lost the #1 job to a kid.
Tell me where to sign.
If they want him, then go after him in FA. |

Everyone who's exempt or protected will be exposed. About 20 players. If you limit it to non-UFAs, the likely list is:
MacDonald
Read
Weise
Raffl or Laughton
Leier
McDonald
Pettersson
Brennan
O'Neill

Yes. But there will be more than 3 players exposed. It includes all AHL/NHL/ECHL players who meet the requirements and aren't protected. |

Well they do have to select one player from the flyers. Yes. Read can play multiple positions and up and down the lineup, kill penalties. And they will need some money and term on deals. |

On top of it you have an abundance of NHL caliber prospects ready in just a couple of seasons (maybe even sooner) and your gonna have to sign him to a decent length/ expense contract. NAH. |

I beg to differ. I would not be happy if they left Ghost, Simmonds, or Jake (for starters) unprotected. - jmatchett383
Do you really think those guys are going to be unprotected? Not likely!
