That's not exactly great asset management. Odds are Martin won't get claimed, but Bozak and his 50 point pace would. So we'd get nothing for him. Wouldn't it make more sense to trade Bozak in the offseason and have Martin not picked....then lose Bozak for nothing and keep Martin? And lets be real, Bozak is the much better player.

Plus when they signed Martin, this team was still supposed to suck for a few more years. And Vegas wasn't happening. Plans change.

After last night we won't have to expose Bozak... every team he plays against does a good enough job exposing how inept he can be.

He played very well

He has sucked for quite a while now... but yesterday he was fantastic.

It is a completely different team when he is on his game. The Leafs need him to be at his best, which is really no different than any other team.

That's why I said offseason, i.e. after the expansion draft. Maybe said expansion team will grab too many d-men in the draft and be looking to move one for a centre who can take faceoffs and score at a 50 point pace with whoever he plays with.

It would be great if they can move Bozak - seems to show up every other game. Leafs could use a shootout specialist. They are the worst team in the NHL in shootouts one win and seven losses. Also worth considering letting the backup play the shootout - Andersen lets in 2 out of 3 almost every opportunity - which is not good enough to win. He played such a good game last knight then was a wet fart in the shootout.

I've heard how bad Bozak is for years. That he'd be out of the league without kessel etc. etc. He's a decent 40-50 point player, with great faceoff stats. He's also amazing in shootouts (why aren't they using him in shootouts btw?).
