I'm probably in the minority, but I wouldn't mind shattenkirk. 6mil for 7 years isn't to bad. He stood out to me in the games he played against the leafs this year. He would probably be 1 or 2D on the current leafs. Then everyone can slot down a spot. Then when rielly and others take steps forward he moves down to 3 or 4D. The last 2 years would probably suck but the first 5 years should be fine. Leafs had cap room anyhow.

Not to mention any player with the marlies who would need a large increase in pay is a long ways down the road.

He's from a small town less than an hour away from NY City and was more than likely a Rangers fan growing up. Now is his chance to become a Ranger.

I'd be willing to bet that Shatty would take the $6M x 7yrs that he turned down from TB if NYR was offering the same.
