That "prospect" is 27 years old with zero NHL experience.
- BINGO!

Wow. I knew the Pens got him for cheap, but I didn't know the deal was that good!

That's a bummer for the Canes. I always thought Hainsey was a solid Defenseman--but, I haven't watched him nearly as much as you do.

I'd say Carolina got fleeced a bit, no?

Crawford?????..... Hmmmm
- BGKarras

Would Stan really trade Crow before the summer and go with Darling in the playoffs? It may happen in the summer as that gives Darling a year of #1 before his first "very own" playoff run but I shudder to think of the howl both in the dressing room and on our board. Ouch.

Not really. I mean Hainsey is a 35 year old UFA who has never been to the playoffs. He's reliable, but I don't know that he's anything special. a 2nd seems pretty fair.

Maybe Forsling.

Vanek in his last 3 playoffs: -16

And...he's below water in Corsi.

- CanOCorn

A 2nd and Forsling and I might have some interest.

Didn't they just extend Greiss?

I dunno.

I would take, and would love to take, Anders Lee or Brock Nelson.

Trade makes sense for both teams.

CAR gets a 50-60 range pick and a throw in for PIT SPC flexibility

PIT gets a bottom 4 D while they are battling injuries.

My point: the Wings have kind of slowly slid back to mediocrity as their core has aged. And I would argue they "held on" to a lot of guys that they thought were their future: Ericsson, Tatar, maybe Helm—las time they really went "big" at the deadline it was for Kyle Quincey for a late first in 2011. So in the last 6 years, ally hey've done is gotten older, and worse.

All I was saying.

Point being: All the "great" prospects—and Detroit's system was always the "yardstick" for developing great prospects—have never and will never equal the quality of the great core of Detroit from 10 years ago.

Datsyuk, Franzen, Lidstrom, Zetterberg, Yzerman, Hull>>>>> anything they have today.

If it were Stanley B, I would keep going big every deadline until Keith and Hossa retire and/or Toews begins to (truly) fall off, then do a total rebuild afterward, as opposed to the "soft landing" in the middle Detroit has done.

But I was a Hawk fan for decades before 2007—and I can do 2-5 years of horrible teams like it's NUTTIN'!!!

It wasn't a swipe, and I don't know (LOL) if we're agreeing or not. But that above is what I think. I think we agree?

- John Jaeckel

I agree 100% JJ but now I'm a few decades older and I'd like to see it before I pass into that "great golf course in the sky" or in the basement. Wherever I end up.

OK. Right on.

Yea, I mean, I knew he was reliable and that's why I was hoping the Hawks would maybe try and pick him up (on the cheap). I don't really care about the lack of playoff experience. I just feel like come playoffs, it's never a bad thing to have some dependable Defensemen...

..and he's still younger than Rozy! Ha!

No way Stan trades a cup winning goaltender before a cup run.

Kruger + TvR +Fortin for Brock Nelson and Dennis Seidenberg.

They already have Greiss at 3.3 per, and Halak at 4.5 per. We'd have to take one back, then sign Darling for around 3+, unless we were keeping the new G and dumping Darls.

Something like Vanek and a 2nd for Motte, a 1st, and a 4/5th sound better?
- Feds91Stammer

Sounds like far too much.

A late second is about right.

Don't want to move Hino.

Dude is a blur. He has some hands, too.

He reminds me a lot of Roenick--minus the edge and meanness that JR could play with. But, his energy similar to JR in my opinion.

We agree that prospects never emerged to elite level.

That doesn't necessarily mean shmaltz and Hartman showed by launched for a rental.

Much smaller though. I don't actually think Brock nelson and Seidenberg really make us better if we lose Kruger and TVR. nelson is abysmal possession wise.

Fortin is a keeper. A bit more weight and confidence and he can be a solid scoring winger.

Hanzal, Eaves, Vanek, maybe in that order sound like the big possibilities. Def the first two.
- John Jaeckel

What kind of cheddar do you think goes back on any one of these guys? A top tier Rockford kid and a 1st (2018)?

MORE . . .

Vanek still in play.

Hawks contacted by NYI today. No player names mentioned (yet).

Can't imagine CC being moved at the deadline.

That type of move would happen during the off-season. Too many moving parts.

agreed and stagnant cap will shrink the market for CC.
Bowman may have to retain a little $$ to not take any back come summer time.

Yep. Good call. He is much smaller than JR.

it's really nice having a guy with his speed, though.

Cizikas is also out a month presumably with a broken hand.
