I would be very unhappy if StanBo gave up a first for Vanek. - tompo1015
Something like Vanek and a 2nd for Motte, a 1st, and a 4/5th sound better? |

They probably just know that Snow is an idiot and call him daily to see if they can sneak one past him. |

Frankly, I'd only want Vanek if they took Rosival.

Was hoping Hawks would target Hainsey for the playoff run.
The Pens just got him for a pick and a prospect.
I'm always a little nervous with TVR's injury history and Rozy being so old. I think it would have been nice to have him on the blue line.
Just my opinion, though.

JJ in the blog from yesterday, two before this one, you replied to my statement emended about why Detroit let Fippula go and I still am confused and need a reply from you:
I think I was answering why the wings sent Fippula was traded, JJ.
Not sure what your point is.
The wings got older, retired one of the best defenders in the history of hockey, had Rafalski (sp) become injury plagued as smaller defenders from the old rules did, had the front line stars get older and the late draft picks and player development was able to help fill holes and replace, none of the younger prospects over the course of years reached elite status.
And in my humble opinion the fact they weren't able re-establish solid top four defenders was another huge strike to their decline and the fact that jimmy howard who was by some considered equal to a young Crawford way back, never took the big steps and Mrazek athletic as he is might have overstayed his welcome with present teammates.
Good teams Cup teams ALWAYs go cold, bad, dark for a while and the management fought the good fight to keep the streak and try to challenge again.
But John somehow your comment /answer seemed to some sort of proof for doing things differently...I am really not sure because I go backward from13,12,11,10,09. Reading these so I may be missing your point.
That if they traded for the Duchense of that era, or kept Fuppila there present stage would be rosy?
Was there connection to the Hawks present situation and what you advocate?
I just felt like you swipe at me. (Tearing up) - wiz1901
My point: the Wings have kind of slowly slid back to mediocrity as their core has aged. And I would argue they "held on" to a lot of guys that they thought were their future: Ericsson, Tatar, maybe Helm—las time they really went "big" at the deadline it was for Kyle Quincey for a late first in 2011. So in the last 6 years, ally hey've done is gotten older, and worse.
All I was saying.
Point being: All the "great" prospects—and Detroit's system was always the "yardstick" for developing great prospects—have never and will never equal the quality of the great core of Detroit from 10 years ago.
Datsyuk, Franzen, Lidstrom, Zetterberg, Yzerman, Hull>>>>> anything they have today.
If it were Stanley B, I would keep going big every deadline until Keith and Hossa retire and/or Toews begins to (truly) fall off, then do a total rebuild afterward, as opposed to the "soft landing" in the middle Detroit has done.
But I was a Hawk fan for decades before 2007—and I can do 2-5 years of horrible teams like it's NUTTIN'!!!
It wasn't a swipe, and I don't know (LOL) if we're agreeing or not. But that above is what I think. I think we agree? |

Not true.
0.54 points per game in his playoff career. - Feds91Stammer
I'm not sure who started this silly rumor, but he really only played poorly in one playoff season out of 6 times he's been there, and that was on the Mike Yeo led Minnesota Wild in 14-15. He had 4 points in 10 games. no goals. his rookie years in buffalo was only 2 goals in 10 playoff games too, but as a rookie. Others were 10 points in 16 games, 3 points in 3 games, 10 points in 17 games, and 5 points in 7 games (all goals). |

I think the Islanders have a lot of interesting players. Not sure who they would be looking for from us. They are definitely hot right now, and playing themselves back into the playoff hunt.
Hopefully, they are not asking us to take Halak off their hands... |

Can't they just bury him? DET should be willing to take on expiring contracts but of course that raises the price. |

A guy in my building who is a lifelong season ticket holder mentioned he had heard mention of Sven Beartschi. What are the odds two different people echoed something similar like that?
I'm not a fan of the guy (Beartschi), especially with the concussion stuff hes got going on. |

It's just the soft euro perimeter player agenda. I hear the same garbage about Tatar and Nyquist. |

Agreed. In the cap era you have to do a legitimate rebuild. DRW org values that playoff streak too much. Even though they only have 1 playoff series win in the last 5 years. |

By no means is he a superstar, but he could provide some skill and speed on the third line (plus he's a left winger). |
