All these trades in the league are also viewed thru the prism of the expansion draft. Anyone know the rules when the list has to be submitted to the league who you're going to expose? Before or after the playoffs for example. |

List is due June 17th
Expansion draft is June 21st
Vegas has a 48 hour window in between where they can negotiate with any unprotected UFA/RFA without having to pay compensation. If they sign a player it will count as their selection from that team. |

Fixed JR.....so excited about the prospect of getting a wide body I can't type no mo. 10th is 56 points. So Breadman is 3 points out. And on a totally different note...Burns is 3rd in the league in scoring as a D-man. That's amazing in this day and age. |

Is Hanzal a superstar? Heck no. Is he a MASSIVE body that can win face-offs, matchup against the opponent's top lines, win board battles, screen the goalie, and contribute some depth offense? YES! I think he would be a (literal and figurative) HUGE addition to the lineup, at the right price. - EnzoD
I dont' think they need him. Call me crazy.
I also think/believe Bowman will be gun shy chasing a guy like that after a big bodied guy like Ladd didn't pay off much and statistically either did Vermette the year before. Size at times is overrated.
I think a top 9 winger is a bigger concern. I worry that 4 rookies in your top 9 spots is tough to manage when games and shifts get more and more intense. I'm not worried about 38. 67? 8? 48? yeah, very concerned they can produce AND not get dominated by veterans who can raise their games. Until those kids play a NHL playoff game it's impossible to tell, but show me a cup winner with 4 rookies in the top 9. I cant think of one.
An eaves gives Q the ability to float 81 up north and put the kids in a more less pressured role to be counted on. 86 didnt' do squat until paired with 50/23 and 86 for as much as I couldn't stand him, has a lot more pure skill then 8/48/67. |

Hanzal also gives the option of sending him out to take AA draws, then a quick change. - jt19
I would not classify any change between those two as quick

Thanks Feds!!! And by the way, I see your point about Holland too. Its just that I see so many other dumpster fire GM's around the league, its hard to judge one against the other. |

Breadman is currently tied for 15th with 53 points among forwards. 10th place is 56. - ILGolfer
yeah that's not good...that's where the big money comes in and whacks the hawks will a raise due to him, and a stagnant cap.
I expect 72 to finish in the top 10....... |

He was fine pre cap era but the inability to adapt has been the killer. |

I have a buddy who is a DIE HARD wings fan....and states similar.
Holland gets a lot of slaps on the back he didn't deserve.
Wings are in trouble. I don't see a quick fix there. Not sure you guys even have a goalie yet as Mzarek is way too inconsistent and Howard is.........well..........
Surprised, although with his cap number high, that Zetterberg isn't looking to jump ship and go to a team with a chance to win a cup. Somebody who loves old captains, cough....Boston, would love him I'm sure...... |

Alex burrows is far past his prime and is an agitator not a heavy board guy.
Under six feet.
Jannik Hansen makes a reasonable 2.5 mil for another season the Hawks would have to carry IF he wasn't chosen by Las Vegas.
The think is Hansen had ample chances to play as a first line wing with the Sedin Sisters, scored 22 goals/ 38 points once.
Yeah I know he plAys with Bo Horvat, but do they REALLy have replacement forward in the wings there, save for Virtaten who I think will be a disappointment.
And they gonna take Rockfords Erik Gustafson and minor pros for a easy cap fit nhler....? |

I'd bet it's a young prospect or F see 67/48/8 AND a 1st.
Vermette fetched that (dahlbeck) and 1st 2 years ago.

Motte or Hino I'd be okay with. No deal on Schmaltz with how he's improving. Not for just Hanzal. |

Totally agree!!!
Toews, AA, Hanzel, Kruger/Kero down the middle looks good. Kero moves to wing or Kruger does since he isn't taking draws. - SaadBeast
Just because Kruger isn't taking draws doesn't mean that he (defensively) shouldn't play C (and annoy the opposing teams best C's)
Let moose/kero take the draw but play the W spots in the zone. |

JJ in the blog from yesterday, two before this one, you replied to my statement emended about why Detroit let Fippula go and I still am confused and need a reply from you:
Aaaaaaand they (the Wing) are . . . where right now? - John Jaeckel
I think I was answering why the wings sent Fippula was traded, JJ.
Not sure what your point is.
The wings got older, retired one of the best defenders in the history of hockey, had Rafalski (sp) become injury plagued as smaller defenders from the old rules did, had the front line stars get older and the late draft picks and player development was able to help fill holes and replace, none of the younger prospects over the course of years reached elite status.
And in my humble opinion the fact they weren't able re-establish solid top four defenders was another huge strike to their decline and the fact that jimmy howard who was by some considered equal to a young Crawford way back, never took the big steps and Mrazek athletic as he is might have overstayed his welcome with present teammates.
Good teams Cup teams ALWAYs go cold, bad, dark for a while and the management fought the good fight to keep the streak and try to challenge again.
But John somehow your comment /answer seemed to some sort of proof for doing things differently...I am really not sure because I go backward from13,12,11,10,09. Reading these so I may be missing your point.
That if they traded for the Duchense of that era, or kept Fuppila there present stage would be rosy?
Was there connection to the Hawks present situation and what you advocate?
I just felt like you swipe at me. (Tearing up) |

I'm not sure I'd want to see all 3 of Rasmussen, Kero amd Hinostroza in the lineup game 1 (or at any time of the playoffs)
PAK
Panik/JT/Schmaltz
Hartman/Xxx/Hossa
Latta/Kruger/ One of Rass/Kero/Hino |

Berliner has played most of the year like an improved player and scorer and aggressive player, all the attributes of a player looking towards USA status and a salary more than the under four million he makes now.

Didn't Filppula and Babcock have issues? (as many players do with Babcock)...hence the reason he left and they gave Weiss the same money |
