Philly is not using Boyd Gordon (800k / expiring this year) and we're not using Desi (800k / exp. as well) = Perfect Match.
Gordon was one of the best Faceoff guys in the last 3 years. If anything he would be a 12-13th forward and used in a series when the Hawks can't win a dang draw (which will happen with the current roster). - TyCamScore
Philly isn't using Gordon because FO is all he can do.
FO is way over-rated. To me, its more about when you win them than how many.
Bolland was the perfect example. Get to the last 5 minutes of a close game and I bet his % was much higher than his career average. |

I see the first 2 lines set
TSP PAK
Could see one of a Hanzal , Gordon or Hanson to play Third line
Maybe an Oduya but I think Hawks are good to go.

Could be some insight there as to why they are not using Krugs NOW as opposed to IN THE PLAYOFFS. |

Faceoffs are not over rated.
Possession equals victory, esp for the Hawks. |

Or San Jose...
Though I think this time, the Wild can take them. May be wrong, but I'd put my $ on Minny in that matchup. |

It looks like Carolina was the first team to do the math and see there waiting until next year, so they peddled Haines quickly.
I understand the Pens predicament because of their injury riddled defense and elevating kids might just blow their confidence. You don't know if Letang is really back and not day to day even after playing the other night. Daley being out might have been why the Pens stepped up for the veteran Haines, but a second rounder is a high price to pay for him, but like the Hawks of past years they feel it necessary to help get in a few rounds.
If Haines cost a second, the price on all those available number five defenders that clubs keep calling top four guys, must be worth more noe based on their age and deals....
I love how so many here want a trade just make one, throwing out names, positions, giant Cap hits, young untouchables and has beens...and think they will seemlessly fit and help lead the team to the promised land.
The Ducks are gonna end up getting more than a first for any defenseman on their roster at this point....
I would step back unless someone offers a no brained.... |

Kevin Shattenkirk believed to have turned down a 7 year, $42M extension from #STLBlues. Will likely be traded at #NHLTradeDeadline as rental |

Rakell is turning into a very useful player. Had a good night last night with two goals. |

Agree. Hawks proved that they can play with anyone in the Western Conference as currently constructed. Maybe not the favorite, but even odds. Once you get to the Cup Finals you do not know who will be waiting for you and anything can happen.
Having said that .... I also agree with you that if you get a 2nd/3rd line LW, 3rd line center or 4/5 defender without giving up a king's ransom you have to do it.

Amen. When he cared and his knees were all there. He could light up guys come playoff time. You can't teach that kind of heavy. Ask the Preds and Minny about playoff Bicks |

Wonder what the Blues will get for that trade?? With the losses of Backes, Brouwer, Ott and now possibly Shattenkirk Blues could slide even further next year. |

Kings aren't making the playoffs. They can't score and if they do it's out in round 1 |
