Congrats on Jay McClement. - BINGO!
He's not even at 50%, but a similar player with a better faceoff percentage, I could see that.. |

I would love to add hanzel but he is a 25-30 pt player Vermette was a 45-50 guy and we gave up a 7/8 D man who was out of options and a 1st and We set the market that year and it went down from that. A good FO% guy and a guy that will get in front of the net would be nice.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0YJBXj3YfCY
here are all his goals from last year. He has never had more then 16 in a season though he will probably get that this year.
from his draft year.
Talent Analysis
Hanzal is big centerman who’s a good skater, with a decent speed and a nice fluid and powerful stride. He’s good in the face-off circle; he has good hands and great puck handling skills. He has above average offensive instincts, and has a good understanding of the game. He needs to work on his defensive play. Standing at 6-5, he is extremely strong, but still needs to fill out his frame to be able to endure the rigors of the North American style of hockey.

Right now, the Hawks aren't looking like they need to add much scoring, but faceoffs and defensive play would be awesome. Defense is always the #1 priority for winning games and going into the playoffs. The Hawks have goal scorers and clutch performers, but it would be huge to have another great defensive C. |

Because Anisimov doesn't slow the first line down there?
Or because Hanzal is a true first line or a second line center like
Anisimov.
I see Hanzal as a big center who plays against the other teams best centre, not a scoring wing.
Just not a fit in my opnion unless it frees another centre to move up to wing an AA is now a centre with chemistry with panarian and Kane. You think they are retooling the best line in hockey now? - wiz1901
Ya Wiz. Not a good idea. My bad.
But the idea of Hanzel centering Hartman and Hossa on the 3rd line sounds OK. Of course it doesnt address the LW issue, but makes for an interesting 3rd line.

I still think Stan looks at his 48.4% team faceoff percentage, and that's where a move will be made. - MartiniMan

2018 first? Cause Hawks powers that be aren't giving up an appearance on the draft stage on TV on Friday night in their home town (i.e. their 2017 1st). - Marlowe
They might exchange being on the draft stage announcing a first round selection for being on a Grant Park stage holding the Cup. But I get your point. They will hold on to the 2017 1st round pick unless they are blown away as to what it can get them.

Fortin for Hudler
2017 1st for Wideman

Welcome to the trade deadline. It's a seller's market. Same story every year. Where people female dog and moan about losing the great Klas Dahlbeck . . . but I digress.
Yes, the interwebs had a rumor the other day that AZ wanted a first for Hanzal, which is consistent in a roundabout way with what I heard today. |

But would you pull the trigger on that JJ. The Hawk's 1st round 2017 pick straight up for Hanzal?

I'm pretty sure that number was surpassed when the news broke that Rundblad got a contract extension. |

I am not predicting anything about Hanzal. I think the 45-50 pt. tag on Vermette was expired by the team he got to the Hawks though.
Someone mentioned Handzus earlier but they are moderately different players. Hanzal has a lot more speed, Zus game was all power and strength.
You can't discount the value he brings in the face-off dot, and it's not like the guy is a boat anchor. |

Two names: Alex Burrows (would involve Vancouver retaining salary) and Jannik Hansen. As much as some love to hate Burrows, he is tough as nails to play against and can play with skilled players.
a few weeks ago i wondered if the hawks would be interested in burrows...
they could put his stall next to keiths... |

Ehhhhh, definitely not in 2017.
Spitballing:
2018 first, Rozy and say Svedberg for Hanzal and Kevin Connauton.
Hanzal and Connauton add value/depth for the playoffs. Connauton has another year on his deal and becomes a player you can expose this summer.
Totally a for instance and I didn't give it a lot of thought. But as always, there are more ways to skin the cat when you add context.

Philly is not using Boyd Gordon (800k / expiring this year) and we're not using Desi (800k / exp. as well) = Perfect Match.
Gordon was one of the best Faceoff guys in the last 3 years. If anything he would be a 12-13th forward and used in a series when the Hawks can't win a dang draw (which will happen with the current roster). |
