Kadri left the ice with his feet just before the hit, so I could see him getting a suspension for it. - MaximusAurelius
He launched up. Which I hate when players do but he tucked the elbow and still went through the chest.
No point in guessing what the DoPS does. They might suspend Chiarot for being hit knowing how inconsistent they are. (+ Malkins hit was way higher and worse with no repercussions if that's any bearing in their mind)
Not really. Buff had no gas/momentum and thought Matthews was going to hold the puck. Then he went stick out to the offensive side of the puck, missed the pass and gave Matthews a little shove because he wasn't able to keep up with Matthews' motion. - markmark
Byfuglien had the chance to blaster Matthews in about 110235 pieces on the play.
I applaud him for not doing so.
Makes sense, he's on the ice for more goals scored than against. Unfortunately we remember the against because he causes them, but we don't pay attention enough to the ones he prevents because we don't notice on our tvs. Babs notices though. - mykokes
I'm pretty sure if you watch the games...you can tell his good plays from his bad. I know the analytics crowd doesn't think you can see how good/bad a player is from watching..

who hates Laine?
I don't hate Laine
do I prefer him over Matthews? No
but do I hate him? No - jimi james
This pretty much sums it up.
I don't find him dislikeable. I think he has an awesome talent. Like most Leafs fans, I would never go back in time and choose him over Matthews, but there is definitely valid arguments to be made in his favor.

Some smaller guys have to launch up a little or they end up eating a stick/elbow.

The Jets have a lot of good, high-end talent. - Aetherial
the guy can score.
i'm glad the sens or nucks didn't jump up at the lottery and get him.

They sure do...I didn't realize how big Laine was.

Having a lot of family in Winnipeg and the West, it's pretty easy to understand this narrative a lot of them have. It has nothing to do with Matthews v Laine. It's that irrational dislike they have for all things Toronto because Toronto.... because Toronto exists, and that just really grinds their gears, everything becomes Toronto and "eastern" bias. Favoritism from the media, league, etc... on and on and on.
They've become some of the more insufferable fans in the league for me.
