Yup.
We don't really need a good goalie for the next few seasons anyway. Top 5 picks.

We don't have a playoff goalie coach.

I'd like to see Marky get in a good ol fashioned goalie fight though.

Why? You sound like Nucker complaining about Sbisa.
- CanuckDon

Except Sbisa has consistently gotten better every year. Nucker pretends to make decisions based on stats, but that's until someone points out someone like Sbisa has statistically been improving. same can't be said for Dorsett, which I will refrain from getting into. To be fair, I've talked about trading Burr and Higgins for two years. I don't reserve my distain for Dorsett, just players who have brutal contracts that can't hack it.
For example, I think Hutton at 2.8 million for two years is perhaps a bit much considering he is a bottom pair guy, but he's got potential. Markstrom at 3.6, maybe not. I'm open to the proving me wrong. Maybe it's just the market is changing. Hopefully EG gets paid less than Tanev/Edler, but we will see.

Have him pull a Hextall and chase after a forward that ran into him and give him a good old fashioned two-hander to the shins.

Nystrom (plays in the AHL 98% match to dorsett is about right!) and Martin are both over paid, everyone else high on your list is much better than Dorsett and gets paid less. Also, very few of them (outside of Nystrom and Martin) have glaringly awful defensive stats. Thanks for the list though, didn't know you could do that on capfriendly.
- neem55

I would say dale Weise at 2.35 Martin at 2.5. Trevor Lewis at 2 signed a year later and slightly behind in stats would be the best comparison on that list. Zach Smith just signed his new contract at 3.25 is ahead In points just and plays center.

I don't really like it either but these guys are getting the contracts. No sense in batching about something that isn't a one off contract.

EG is going to become the bane of a lot of nucks fans existence.
I expect he'll get paid somewhere between Tanev and Edler, or 4.75m over 5 years.

i'm ok with that personally, but i know it'll outrage many.

Fair enough...Dorsett has also been injured for a long time in his defense. Abductor and neck surgery. Serious injuries he has tried to play through the last 1.5 years.

Sounds like Miller has supplied his 5 team list.
3 Cali teams mentioned to no ones surprise.

We needed some grit/character and we overpaid for it.
It's ok. Not every deal can be a steal.
Dorsett has provided what was expected and role modeled for younger players.
It's not like its a luongo term type deal.

Did they really tell JV to go bulk up? I missed that if they did.

He was bulking up in season last year. You see his neck and shoulders getting thick...

- boonerbuck

Well we know he was putting in OT with the knife and fork.

When I saw the list, I realized it was somewhat the new norm. Lewis is quite a bit better of a player IMO, Wiese was capitalizing off of a couple breakout years in Montreal. In a way, you're right. Guys are just signing for more. Cap will have to go up for this reason.

Dorsett did sign after his 25 point season. I used to think that players that weren't 4th liners or superstars that they usually got a contract around 100,000 per point they score. The normal middle of pack players. Now you have to add in for intangibles like hitting, faceoffs, defence and all the new fancy stats.

But they allowed him too. He trained in Van with the strength coach. Who is to blame for his weight increase?

those are done, luckily.

I agree, JB had that on the top of his list and paid a premium both to get and sign him. Tree, EG, Dorsett, Sutter, Sbisa the team is tougher. Personnel will continue to change, I personally like a lot of the guys JB has brought in. Dorsett is just not one of them. c'est la vie.

I remember Sopel packed on the muscle one off season, looked huge.
Big mistake. He was slow as poop.
But hey, if it can happen to Sopes, it can happen to anyone.

Live and learn.

I'd like to see him back next year with patrick in the middle and gaunce on the left. Lol defence, grit and a player that makes players around him better.

To me, it's about if he can be better next year and continue to grow. In a few years, a snarly top4 guy that clears the net and improves in his zone. I will like that.
