Schultz is a much better PP QB than Letang. He is very good at moving the puck to the right guy and the right time. They will sorely miss him (they already do) if he is out long term. Much better decision maker with the puck than Letang. I said he would flourish with the Pens and he certainly has made the most of the opportunity given to him. He has great skills skating puck handling and most of all high hockey IQ
Something that Letang lacks a lot of the time. He should be the guy running the PP from now on. |

there are no good UFA dmen next season. I could see shattenkirk getting 7+ easily this off-season. Pens may have to trade sprong+ for a solid top 4 dman

Barrie would be my ideal guy. I think an under the radar top 4 dman could be Ryan Ellis |

Hearing that the Pens might want Wideman. Might be just what you need to push you off the ledge. |

I hear Gio is on the outer in Calgary? Ok, we'll sacrifice Flower, Fehr & DP for him & a 3rd conditional. |

Out of curiosity, if you could either add a bad player who was "fun" (i.e. Nikolai Zherdev) or a good player who was "dull" (i.e. 2009-era Orpik), which one would you prefer? |

This will sound crazy, but taking the team you're trading with aside, I think Del Zotto would actually be a good fit for you guys. He's been injured, but his all-around game has improved since his NYR days and he can move the puck well. |

Here's the problem ... Rejecting every player mentioned is unreasonable... there are only a few teams out there who are truly eliminated so the pool of available defensivemen is not ideal. Arizona, Carolina, Colorado, Detroit, Philadelphia, and Vancouver are the only teams that meet that condition. From that list, 20 other teams are looking for defensive depth so your options are going to be flawed and not ideal... take your pick... for what it's worth, I think we will acquire Beauchemin from Colorado. |

Calm down everyone. No need to jump off Fort Pitt Bridge. A lot not to like about that game. But keep in mind, it was 3rd game in less than 4 days (thanks, afternoon start) and the first two were emotional games against heavy teams. The Pens had nothing left in the tank for the Red Wings.
Maybe Sid needs some time off. He's really looked off in the last few games, struggling--by his standards--against some of the worst the NHL has to offer. He did show well against Winnipeg the other night, but like the others, may have been running on empty.
I am a bit concerned this team has a tendency to lay eggs against the worst of the NHL. Losses to COL, ARZ, DET (2), as well as both NASH and NYI when they were bad earlier in the year. Those points add up and could very well cost them home ice. Team just need to rest up, and play there best hockey in the last 2 weeks headed into the post season. |
