There are websites like corsica.hockey or naturalstattrick.com where you can compare seasons and even get more in depth information. HERO charts just provide a quick glimpse into it. They aren't an end all be all, but to me they provide a good snap shot about a player. After looking at the HERO charts I then go to corsica or naturalstattrick and take a look at say... scoring chances, high danger chances, PDO, individual shooting percentage, relative stats to his team matespecially, and look at his stuff from prior seasons.

I watched him in Edmonton. He's the same player. He's benefitted from not playing top line minutes, having competent D partners. And competent forwards. Advanced statistics are a record of what happened. They aren't "flawed." The way people analyze them is what causes flaws. Dude is the same player. Thriving in a lesser role. Pretty simple to see.

Hockeyviz and hockeygraphs also provide some solid stuff too. There's such a wealth of information, it'd be silly to only look at HERO charts. They're just a quick indicator to show how a player is playing. The only bummer in my opinion s that they don't include shot quality. (Which is I usually go to naturalstattrick.com to check on scoring chances and high danger chances)

Some of these guys need to start being selfish and putting the puck on net, instead of looking for the perfect play.

This time of year the NHL brand of hockey really starts to grate on my nerves. I get so tired of the punches thrown after whistles straight into ppls faces and never an effing call how many times is Hornie punched or crosschecked tripped slewed etc just for getting close to the blue paint....not even in it. This crap should always be called. Its beyond frustrating to watch so much crap get let go..

Because not each game is weighted equally...

He's had a hell of a season and looks NHL ready. The season he's had has renewed my hope that he can one day be 3C caliber but I'd be surprised if he jumped into that role off the bat next season. I'd definitely protect him over Wilson and Kuhnhackl.

Are you basing protecting Sundqvist over Wilson based on AHL numbers? Sundqvist has had a decent season so far but so did Wilson last year, 22 goals in 34 games.
