I was a little concerned with the game last night. Blues coming back off a 5 game road trip and the Canucks ending their long road trip smelled like a bad game for the blues but they pulled it out in the end.
Two more games and than a long break.
How in the world did 4 officials not see Allens mask come off. 4!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Utterly ridiculous that they didn't blow the play dead - sycsam
Yeah. and with the bench screaming. Hell all the players who knew should have just stopped.
Jake has balls because he actually stood in front of a shot before the whistle. |

Carcus & Jam: Was it my imagination, or did it look like Jake was overplaying the puck a little last night? - eggsegan
Overplaying, as in playing the puck behind the net?
If so, I didn't think so. |

He's confident right now and his playing the puck was preventing Vancouver from getting in and gaining possession in the offensive zone.
I'm going to go out on a limb and say he's being coached to be aggressive and play the puck by the best that's ever been at it.
Sorry for hijacking a question that wasn't addressed to me.
As for the somewhat ugly game - this is a game in years past that would be an automatic loss with the built in excuse 'first home game after a long road trip we just didn't have our legs tonight'.
So even this is an upgrade.
And Jay Bouwmeester is a piece of poo.
I didn't check, but i'm certain he should be given the second assist on Vancouver's first goal. - bcallaway
Both him and Hutton are both pretty good at playing the puck, so it wouldn't surprise me if Marty is pushing them to do it more to help with the break out.
I agree with the ugly game usually ending with a loss. Happy they pulled i out and got the win.

Sorry Eggs, didn't get to watch much of the game. Seems others addressed the question though. |

At least in their 1st 8 games. lol.
Maybe it's a Mike thing? Let's hope so. It worked out well for the last team that fired their coach and hired a Mike midway through the season. |

What do you guys think of hanging Bouwmeester, Lehtera, and another big name (one of Stastny or Steen) out to dry during the expansion draft simply to get them off the books? Out of those names, Vegas is likely to take one of them over anyone else the Blues leave unprotected. I wouldn't be excited to lose someone like Stastny or Steen, but not having one of Armstrong's more impetuous contracts is enticing. |

Definitely yes to Bouwmeeter. Mixed feelings about Lehtera. He's overpaid but not the albatross i think he's made out to be and what's the replacement cost?
i might risk exposing him figuring neither he nor Bouwmeester will be taken.
No i would not expose Stastny or Steen. |

Steen Statsny and Jay Bo have no movement clauses or no trade clauses so they cant be open to being left unprotected unless I am mistaken |

Technically they can. They have to sign a letter agreeing to be exposed in the draft essentially. Essentially they waive their NMC/NTC for the draft only. It would be in full force otherwise, both before and after the expansion draft. |

One of the first rumors of the rumor season that makes a lot of sense to me - Fleury to the Flames with either Elliott or Johnson + coming back to the Pens. |

There are not any players on the Blues with NMCs.
NTC are irrelevant for the expansion draft. They can be left unprotected. NMC are automatically protected.
The Blues can decide to leave unprotected anyone that isn't exempt. |

I'm leaning towards protecting Edmundson over J bo. We're likely only going to protect one left handed D and Edmundson has proved I think that he is going to be a valuable player going forward.
I'd still rather lose Lehtera, although last night was probably one of the best games I've seen him play. We'll see if he can keep it going. |

What's the deal with someone like Berglund in the expansion draft? Can we just leave him unprotected and sign him at the end of June? |

I'm not positive but I would imagine he can be drafted and they have exclusive negotiating rights until ufa day then he'd be free to go wherever. |

Eller then Sillman maybe? I'm sure some rookie or something wore it since then but maybe not in a regular season game. |

Ill wait and see if anyone else has thoughts on the #61 question.
But, with Brodziak back and probably suiting up tomorrow morning Who sits? If we put the 4th line back together then what is our new 3rd line?
Is it
Agostino Barbashev Paajarvi
or does Jaskin or Yakupov get a chance.
When is the roster expansion? is it immediately following the TDL?
i hope to be awake by noon but i guess the dvd will save me if I'm not |

With Parayko exempt, seems far more likely we'll protect 2 LHD and 1 RHD than the other way around. |
