with one difference... its not surprising for a young team to tail off in the second half whereas before they were expected to be competitive.

Babcock should reset the lines going forward.
Problems: Matthews is 1st line centre playing with 3/4 line wingers.
Hyman is playing the wrong wing. He can't make passes on the rush (backhanded) and ends up driving around the net and losing the puck mostly.
They don't have a second top 6 left hand shot after JVR. I'd try Soshnikov there since he shoots left.

For now I'd realign to:

JVR Matthews Marner (1st line)
Soshnikov Bozak Nylander (2nd line)
Komarov Kadri Hyman (checking / shutdown line)
Martin Smith Brown/Leivo (4th line)

Going forward, either trade deadline/off season/from Marlies upgrades are needed on left wing and 4th line centre. Not a big Smith fan. (and of course on Defense).

Also, Matthews needs to be utilized on first power play unit. He's improving on face offs and (obviously) is better suited there than Bozak.

Power play units:

JVR Matthews Marner - Gardner / Nylander (1st unit)
Soshnikov Bozak Kadri - Reilly / Zaitsev (2nd unit)
