I'm pretty sure Sheary doesn't have to be protected. Are you saying, sign Schultz and go 8 skaters instead of 7 F 3 D?

I see 7F 3D as...
Sid
Geno
Kessel
Hornqvist
Hagelin
Sundqvist
Rust or Wilson (probably Rust)

Letang
Dumo
Schultz (if resigned)

or do they do Letang, Schultz, Maatta?

I don't think you can expose maatta. And I'm not sure lvs would have interest in an unsigned Schultz who wouldn't sign more than a 1 year deal since he's UFA the next year.

Maatta would absolutely be claimed by lvs of exposed. He's shown enough potential and they would need to take the shot on a high potential guy like him despite contract.
Maatta I think has trade value. I think he can bring back a long term young top 6 guy maybe even someone like duchene. As a trade chip he's worth more than horn or hagelin. My mistake on sheary.

If we sign Schultz long term then we have to protect him and maatta which means we go 4 by 4. I would probably protect hornqvist after the 3 obvious forwards.

Schultz in Norris disgusting is stupid. He puts up points at the top of the second tier dmen because we play high event hockey and he almost always has Crosby Malkin or Jessel on the ice.

Sorry but no 2nd pairing and for most of the year 3rd pairing dman should get a top 15 vote.

You can't ignore a possible 60 point season. That will make him part of the discussion even if he's a major long-shot.

Isn't there something about qualifying offers and rfas for the expansion? They can only expose rfa if the qualifying offer has been offered?

I don't know. I assume the deadline to qualify would be before the expansion draft. No f'n way we are letting Schultz go UFA this year and not qualify. If the deadline to qualify is after the draft then every team would just wait to qualify and it would be a huge loophole.

The more I watch Maatta, the more I question his ability to play with this type of team. I really wonder if LV would bother with Schultz because he would probably only sign a 1 year deal with them. There's is no way in hell Schultz is going to sign a long term contract with a crap team after his experience in Edmonton.

The Pens should be shopping Maatta IMO.

yes the Pens played "well enough" to win, and the Av's didn't have a great effort, but if our goal posts have been goals, this would have been a different game . Pens play-by-play and color guy are total bumholes. Pooping on the Av's all night was classy. Yeah they are last place and having a rotten year .....we get it . I thought Murray played well and made some key saves to keep his team ahead.

Curious. I've hear lvs can't trade any selection for a year. Is that true? As a trade chip Schultz would have immediate value

Good teams find ways to win. Bad teams find ways lose. Coulda, shoulda, woulda, is the mantra of a bad team...

If they can find a deal for Maatta, I take it, while he still has some value.

getting Maatta off this roster would be simple addition by subtraction. He treads water anymore, thats it.

Is this whole "brand" thing something the bearded hiipster kids that wear goofy pants say? Did you make it up? Is it a tick ? Im just curious. Where im fron someones brand refers to what kind of beer they drink/stockpile in a special fridge in their garage.

Just me poking fun at people when they say something that's so typically them.

Everyone has a brand, and it's important to expand it.
