I'm neither an Obama or Trump supporter. That said, I don't think the job that President Obama did was that bad at all. Kept us mostly out of war, improved jobs, economy, stock market, gas prices. I mean, you are not going to please everyone...I get that. But in the game scheme of things not a bad job by him. The problem with our politics is we are looking for a president that does everything right...kind of how we want the Hawks to play every game. It's just not humanly possible to do that in the White House. If President Trump can keep us out of war, keep the economy moving, the jobless rate down....that is awesome. Not everything is perfect. Nor will it ever, ever be. I hate to say it but we have to settle for above average pretty much. Ok that is the extent of my political talk. I just want the Hawks to win tonight. And if they don't...the sun will still come up tomorrow and I will (hopefully) still be alive to converse with you fine people. - onehundredlevel
I don't mean to be rude but I couldn't care less about your assessment of the job Obama did or the job Trump is doing. Nor should you care about my assessment of political topics. The point is this is a hockey blog and political commentary is not appropriate here, whether we agree or disagree on things. I come to this blog to escape from political topics, not to have them foisted upon me, whether it's being done by well meaning folks or trolls looking to stir up trouble.
It seems pretty simple to me - talk hockey. Period.

Someone said wall? In Russian that means waste of money.
 - kwolf68
I dunno - I thought it meant mis-directed assets ... those teams needed offense, and Tallon went big on D (Aucion got added that year too) ... those were some pretty awful additions considering where the team as it was constructed in what, 2005? |

You do realize that your post about NOT talking politics (when nobody was talking politics at that point in time) actually backfired and turned the entire thread into a political conversation??

Vanek for an AHLer and mid round pick would be a nice addition to the forward group, but I watch Detroit plenty and Vanek is as slow as ever. Schmaltz, Hartman, Forsling, Debrincat should NOT be on the table for Vanek TDL acquisition, IMO. - EnzoD
Detroit's going to want Kempny and/or Forsling as a starting point for any of their forwards. They need defense. |

It was, Khabi was a total mercenary. Let the Hawks down, stole their money and got outplayed badly by a backup journeyman goalie named Patrick Lalime.
Had the Russian milkman played even MEDIOCRE hockey it's possible the Hawks make the post-season in 2008 as they won like 3 games while Toews was out injured for like 18 games. Hawks miss post season by 3 points that year largely because we had a goalie that could NOT be counted on to give a top effort. That bozo is a major reason I'm such a big fan of Crawford. I know that boy brings it every night... |

I like it.
I got goals from Kane, Hossa, Toews, a defenseman and a rookie. Not in that order. |

And for a useless piece of trivia, last night against Detroit, Alex Ovechkin failed to register a shot.....for the first time in 315 games (4 years). And they still won 6-3. |

Sure EnzoD....IF we got Vanek for nothing inpactful, no harm I guess....a couple of Games and "Q" would have him stapled to bench or up in press box anyway. But don't kid yourself. This is Deadline deal overpayment time. Have no doubt, Detroit will DEFINATELY want at least one of that young "star" group, and perhaps a pick too. - hawk35
Then say NO !! Vanek for Rundblad !!! Oh wait................

And let me add, love him or hate him, I think we can all agree, there is an element of comedy to our 45th President—because to a degree, he intends it.
And we should let it go at that. - John Jaeckel

And now for something completely different....
On a personal note I am thrilled hockey is coming to Jacksonville, FL.! The Icemen will begin their inaugural season this fall for the ECHL and they are looking for an NHL parent club. $400 for season tickets. Not earth shattering news but at least I won't have to drive 4-5 hours to see a live hockey game. |
