#Blackhawks' morning skate lines (no Hossa):
Schmaltz-Toews-Panik
Panarin-Anisimov-Kane
Rasmussen-Kruger-Desjardins
Hartman-Kero-Hinostroza - jt19
HMMMMM ........ Schmaltz getting more 1st line exposure as a showcase ???
He better not be traded for the likes of Vanek, Sharp, Iginla or a rental.
Hanzel - maybe....... and only if he can be signed for the future.
Duchene - OK, I'll live with that !!

They could try with Seabs and hope LV doesn't take him. - JRoenick97
There is no way a new Franchise would take him so I hope the hawks ask. the next 3 seasons they would owe him 9 mil, 9mil and 7.5 of cash. This is on new franchise that does not want to lose money (they just spent 500 mil) If he was getting paid 4-5 mil with a 7 AAV those are the guys LV will target to get to the Cap min. That is why Hossa would be snatched up in second. |

I am so scared. Every second day I see something new on Hawks acquiring Vanek. Please shoot me now. If that's the best we can do, I would rather we go into the playoffs with what we have and save the overpayment Detroit would get.
Damn. I wish I saw Vanek gone to Montreal (again), or any other team to screw up their playoff hopes. I would rather go to war with the unproven youngsters we have now.
So stop the madness. Stan....when it comes to Vanek..."JUST SAY NO"!!!!

Agree with Hossa, but I'm not so sure about Seabrook. If here were left unprotected and drafted by LV, I believe he could be the Knight's Captain. Sure, he'd be the highest paid player on the team which would get them to the cap easier. I understand the $$$ is alot at 9mm the first year, but I think LV will do well the first couple years in attendance and marketing due to the hype and I'm sure they want to be competitive. My friend even bought a Knights shirt so I know they made at least a few cents already.
I hope the Hawks don't "gamble" with him being unprotected. Remember, always wear protection. |

Vanek for an AHLer and mid round pick would be a nice addition to the forward group, but I watch Detroit plenty and Vanek is as slow as ever. Schmaltz, Hartman, Forsling, Debrincat should NOT be on the table for Vanek TDL acquisition, IMO. - EnzoD
So Vanek for Toews and a 4th?
Agreed on the guys you listed, I wouldn't trade them for a rental. |

Definitely. He is making more of an impact on both sides of the puck. It will be nice when he gets some experience and strength.
The one thing I'm willing to bet the Hawks want from him, is (I think similar to Marko Dano when he was here) that at times he is standing and watching too much. You can tell that at times he isn't entirely sure where he should be going.
I've seen examples offensively where Toews/Panik and moving and trying to get a cycle going but Schmaltz doesn't yet seem to read the play or at least he hesitates a bit. Defensively I think he looks good when the assignment is straightforward, like putting back pressure on the opposing player.
When the opposing team has control of the puck in the Hawks zone, I think #8 does sometimes get caught kinda floating in the middle and isn't 100% sure on his positioning.
Personally I just think there is good potential with #8. |

Sure EnzoD....IF we got Vanek for nothing inpactful, no harm I guess....a couple of Games and "Q" would have him stapled to bench or up in press box anyway. But don't kid yourself. This is Deadline deal overpayment time. Have no doubt, Detroit will DEFINATELY want at least one of that young "star" group, and perhaps a pick too. |

Again.... Lighten Up. It's a picture of Trump with peeps all over his head. - furso27
Inserting political commentary in this hockey blog, no matter how inane, is stirring the pot that doesn't need stirring at this site. I come here to talk hockey as a way of forgetting about all the political crap that invades my world. I would hope others would respect the wishes of their fellow hockey fans to restrict their posts to hockey related topics.

Picture of Trump with peeps for hair? What would the actual comment be? - John Jaeckel
It's poking fun at our president which has zero to do with hockey. I couldn't care less what others think about Trump nor should they care what I think about him. But the fact is there is a very large divide between Trump opponents and proponents and therefore bringing Trump or any hot button political topic into a blog set aside for hockey is inappropriate and purposely trying to get a rise out of people.

He's also a celebrity, so that kind of comes with the territory. There wasn't even a comment on it, so I can't really agree that it's commentary. It didn't really have to do with anything either, so I'm not sure what it was directed at. |

ER, what is the actual comment? "He has funny hair?" If so, I guess if you infer that from it, OK. Feels more personal than political to me. - John Jaeckel
Sorry ... probably getting my undies in a bunch for a minor thing - just trying to avoid a slippery slope.

I think that Toews will have a big game tonight. He was invisible last game against the Jets but really appears to be turning the corner lately. |
