Want a Cup level #1 center? Draft one because you aren't finding one another way. You guys are just listing players who aren't or won't be #1Cs (Bennett....RNH....Duchene, who though first line caliber probably is more a winger) but you know their names.....so recognition!
It's not as easy to accept this reality as it is to derive half baked trade proposals, but it is what it is. |

I agree. Last year, he was able to use his speed and aggressiveness to make up for his lack of strength and was serviceable defensively. This season, his defensive decision making has been off and he's been a fairly big liability. - jmatchett383
But people tell me he is being used terribly?
The Flyers aren't using him any different. That's why I was just curios as to what is meant by being used terribly. To me that would mean the Flyers use him in a shutdown role or have him kill a ton of penalties. |

The only thing I can think of is that the system isn't allowing him to take full advantage of his offensive abilities because Hak seems to have shifted his system from last year to a more defense-oriented system. But that's a totally different issue. |

And where were they drafted?
It's rare to find a future top center later in the draft like Jamie Benn or Datsyuk.
Look at the top centers in the league. how many were top 5 picks. |

Can we find a #1 center in the upcoming draft outside of the top two picks? |

As it always goes, maybe maybe not. If you're asking who I think has that potential in the 1st round, Martin Necas is my favorite. Elias Pettersson too, though I'm not 100% sold on him being a center or a wing. Maybe on a slower day I'll go more into detail if you ask me my thoughts on a couple names. But it isn't a great year, though there are still great players, and you're going to have to hold your nose at a flaw or question mark probably. |

Im not saying his defensive ability is satisfactory. Not at all. I just think its being seriously overblown, in part because he isnt scoring.
If he had 35-40 points right now, not a single person would even be talking about his defense.
Also, the team defense as a whole has been about as bad as it gets.. That will magnify the lapses in players games as well. This is not a defense of Ghost btw. I think his defense meh. I honestly dont think its much different though from last season. Just not as many people cleaning up after him... |

But you think he changed the system from last year to restrict his skills, skills that were on full display last year....Or could it have been do to a team that was having trouble defending and a need to change up a little. |

With the lack of knowledge I have on this upcoming class, as well as the lack of chatter on the draft, it would be great to hear any thoughts on some of the names. I thought I remembered correctly that you were the prospect/draft guy hah! If you back read, I questioned the talent at center earlier this morning hoping for someone to help |

I think Hakstol realized some issues with the team this year and pulled in the reins defensively, yes. |

Id prefer to keep Ghost and get him signed to a cheaper mid/long term deal with the hopes that he breaks out offensively again. I don't like giving up on young defenseman so early. - Mordecai

So then it's not like the team is using him terribly. The way the team is playing as caused the coach to try and adjust |
