I just see that Nashville thing in my head. A team that has made moves and seems to be in it to 'win now'. A coach that would probably advocate for the trade in Lava.
A piece coming back in Rinne to ease some of the present and future cap burden Nashville will have to carry. Trading for G is very much a move to 'win now'.
Not sure who else fits better than Nashville. Dallas? They need D help though. - flyer_nutter
I wonder if you could do something bigger.
Giroux and Mason(who can replace Rinne then)
not sure the return though |

I think everyone prophesied that the Flyers would be a bubble playoff team this year. - Streit2ThePoint
I think what has now made everyone really take a look at this roster is the decline of Giroux's play. That was something you thought would decline but not for maybe another 2-3 years.
Maybe he recovers. but he almost looks to have just fallen off a cliff and now finding a 1st line center might have just jumped to being this teams top need. |

With so little teams being sellers, especially in the east, I almost wish Hexy would get ahead of everyone else and trade the expiring UFAs. Call up some guys and let the season play out. If we make playoffs, great. Will be a fun 4 game series against Caps. - arichardson22
I'd very much be in favour, but one place I do hesitate is the Phantoms seem to have some chance at competing this season. Not sure if leaving those kids down there isn't the best thing for them.
Hextall needs to sell this deadline whatever he can in terms of the UFA's and if he can get anything for Mac, Weise or Read (doubt it).
The future picks have a hell of a lot more value than (at best) a first round knockout and being able to pat themselves on the back for making the playoffs. Not selling, is a moronic move in my eyes and I would blame Hex for that. |

Maybe in the off-season. I haven't checked but doesn't Rinne have okay numbers this year? Not sure they move him now.

The decline is more pronounced this season, and having to play this style is not exactly going to help. Thats what is also unfortunate.
He has been declining for more than just this season, and its why I am in favour of a trade. This isn't something that has come out of the blue, but it has been very extreme this year. |

Good point about the Phantoms. I'd look to ship out Streit and MDZ for defense. Keep Schultz as the 7th, or trade him, and as some have mentioned, maybe even trade for a dman to protect in the draft rather than protecting Manning. Or just call up Hagg or an older D man so the young guys can get that winning experience as much as possible with Phantoms. I wouldn't hesitate trading Weise or Read, I assume one of them is gone regardless from expansion. I would move Neuvy too, but you'd have to think taking away Stoalie from Phantoms could hurt their competiveness regardless of Lyon being down there too. |

Ghost and G had same surgery last offseason. Neither looks themselves could that surgery be like a high ankle sprain and take a year to fully get over? |

With the current level of play, not many points are on the horizon. Hextall should sell off any UFA that he can return even the slightest of value. Even if amazingly the team rebounded and made the playoffs they aren't going anywhere. |

With Lyon playing well, and doing so when Stolarz was up, if a goalie was moved I might be cool letting Stoalrz play the remaining season if the flyers are out of playoff spot. Could give you a look to see if he is ready to compete for the starter job next season. |

They have to work out the issues they have from within as much as possible. Changing lines and defense pairings is not going to get Giroux or Voracek to start producing. Neither is changing defense pairings going to improve the makeup of the defense. There is no miracle cure to this. - MJL
Finding the right mix with what we have and property utilizing is how we get back into the standing. I agree, Giroux and Voracek have to workout their own offensive issues on their own and whether or not I agree with the line combinations, pairs and scratches, Hakstol has already experimented with this. Now we're down to the two month stretch run. To Hakstol's credit, I think he's done a good thing by putting Schenn at center in Couturier's absence and I think it's great that he's continued to run with this in Couturier's return. This stretches out the depth in the middle because Bellemare and Cousins at center are not going to do a better job in a top nine role.
With this said, if you want to sit developing players who have been nothing but an asset on a nightly basis for one game, fine. Three however is inexcusable. Indefensible. Gostisbehere is as dangerous an offensive threat on the Power Play as G, Jake, Simmonds and Schenn. Gostisbehere was clearly missed on the PP, which fell out of the top ten in the league and missed in OT last Saturday.
On top of this, in Gostisbehere's return, he's paired with a mirror older version of himself on the third pair. These are Coaching decisions. Does Hakstol want to win games or not? Because misusing players isn't giving the Flyers the best chance at winning. This isn't his first season as the bench boss. He should know his players by now. |

Couter is the biggest cull on the team, what a softie. The Flyers will never score when he is considered a top six player. I wish Haskol would stop trying to make him into a scorer when he is a third line checking forward. |

I don't know.
Gostisbehere had a good World Cup.
I think his is just a 2nd year slump and the coach wanting him to be a little more well rounded of a defenseman, not just a offensive guy.
Giroux I think could just be a guy who is declining. He just has no burst, he rarely seems to be able to carry the puck through the neutral zone, doesn't seem to back check and looks to be lazy some times. I don't know what would lead to that unless he is just worn down now.

I totally agree with this. Haskol is misusing players, destroying confidence and his choice of linemates is so frustrating. You can not expect Giroux to start producing with Weiss and Raffl on his line. Claude must be saying wtf is going on here! |

Kinda what I was thinking wear of the season after coming back from surgery is starting to show now on both since they both pushed to get back for WC. |

. Streit, MDZ, and one of the goalies moved out at the tdl for whatever we can get.
. Start listening to potential offers on Simmonds, Giroux, Schenn, and/or Voracek
. Move at least one of the 3 mentioned above at the draft for another top pick or a young cost controlled player (preferably a center) with a high ceiling.
. Provorov and Ghost are untouchable
. I'd prefer to keep Couturier but if someone offers something substantial he's free to go too. |

Sounds solid.
I need one of the core gone maybe 2. But I add Simmonds to Provorov and Ghost.
The UFA Dmen can all be exiled before the trade deadline also. So that adds Schultz to the trade for whatever at the deadline. |
