Has anyone done the math on 5v5 scoring since 05-06? Has even strength scoring even changed at all really or is it simply the refs not calling anything anymore that's leading to the lowered scoring. The NHL keeps looking for ways to increase scoring and it's like they have completely forgotten how so many goals were scored coming out of that lockout.

The Caps have had an amazing decade.

That's a pretty big difference I'd say. On top of that there were 15 players with 82 points or more in 08-09. How many look to be on pace for that now? 7 or 8? A 70+ point season from a dman looks more impressive when there are less players hitting 70+ points overall I think.

According to my fancy math, Green would've had less points than Burns but more goals over 82 games this season. I'd say it's a wash.
