Anybody who has a problem with Hak...will have a problem with me.
This roster is subpar sitting in a playoff spot for 2 years running. Maybe it wont be there much longer. But on merit this group of players is a real real stretch to make the playoffs. Unfortunately a lot of money tied up in them.

Long time reader and first time poster. Forced to post because I am fed up with the pro-management slant a lot of the posters have on here.
The organization has not won a cup in over 40 years. It is a results-oriented business like some here are so fond of saying, so it is fair game to criticize the way they do things.
That being said, I like Hextall's approach and he is doing the right thing by being patient. Build through the draft. Right now the biggest concern is the 1-C. If Giroux does not elevate his play, this must be addressed by Hextall at some point. That does not mean getting rid of Giroux. It means replacing his talent level from 2-3 years ago so this team can truly contend in a few years time. I don't see a way a player like this is acquired outside of getting lucky in the draft.
Also, it is not all on the coach, but there is a legitimate reason to worry. Hakstol has made some poor personnel decisions. I really don't like how he is handling Ghost in particular. It appears he is more of an old school guy rather than what I hoped we were getting: new blood that used analytics (key word: appropriately) as well as the eye test.
This group is on their 3rd coach and still show the same inconsistent level of play, game to game, period to period, that they have for years now. I will always criticize management more than the players but as a whole, this core is more responsible for their current level of play than any coach/GM.

He's heard of the Philly fan reputation and knew it was coming. - dragonoffrost
- Became very angry when someone asked how far the Flyers are away from Capitals and Penguins. Said they can compete with any team in the NHL. That was the last question directed to him. He left the room somewhat flustered. Looked like he was happy to get out of the room.
seriously he gets that flustered and angry over those questions? seems a bit over the top

Funny that you don't like the pro-management slant but end on that last paragraph.

Welcome. Its interesting that you are fed up with the pro slant of the posters here in that you echoed some of the same points that those same posters have stated. Hakstol does use analytics.

If it makes you feel any better about Giroux, he scored the game winning goal in my Stanley Cup final against the Kings in game 5 to win us the Cup in my NHL 17.
Dale Wiese also won the Conn Smyth. (I'm sure PLind will find this amusing).

I think the AMac question started the boil...
That question brought it to a head. - dragonoffrost
they were all valid questions. just answer them even if its coach speak. why get annoyed? I mean I don't care either way but maybe Holmgren and Hextall should better prepare him to just roll with it

Why would you assume those descriptions are accurate?
