I think the Leafs will try and sign Shatty or Alzner. Maybe even Stone before trying to trade for one. - Santo_44
It could possibly be the point at which they say now it makes sense to make a UFA move, unlike Burke who started with UFA moves. I could see it as a possibility for sure. |

I'm hoping for Shattenkirk long term
And one of Thornton, Jagr, Marleau for a short term deal.
I know the second one is a bit of a pipe dream but the leafs will have a boat load of cap space for the next 2 years so giving one of these guys a 2 year deal(minus Jagr he gets a 1 year) that would be ideal |

That's true. This whole 'faceoffs don't matter' thing to me is just like some bizarre moon man gibberish. |

1.2% difference lol
smith averages 11.9 faceoffs a game. how many games does he have to play to win just 1 more faceoff on average? |

So was the reffing as bad as I hazily remember? Or did the excessive bourbon and memories of the last playoffs take over. |

He and Smith are essentially the same on draws. Gauthier > Smith right now as a 4th liner |

same as always, it wasn't good. we tend to notice the bad calls that go against the leafs more than the bad ones in their favour though |

It's not as crazy as it sounds, it could be crazy enough to work. Pens and Hawks both went from garbage to the Cup in a few years by adding key elite draft picks then supplementing them. Matthews and Marner are that game changer that can have them be an elite contender within a couple of years. |

The Leafs aren't only going to get better with new players or some magical 'stud D' added to the roster. This is where the pain and patience comes in; all these kids are going to get better.
There is too much emphasis on stats and skill, these aren't race horses on the ice it's kids who feel the ups and downs a hell of a lot more than vets do. As time goes by, this exact team will continue to get better and better, it just won't all happen in one season.
The idea of trading Nylander is the most absurd and hilariously predictable media-driven nonsense going right now, and it's a shame some fans have hopped on. |

That's what it looks like to me. They must be playing Smith so he can be Vegas bait. Which would be a smart pain-for-long-term-gain move. They are in a good position for this expansion draft, they can set themselves up to lose next to nothing. Cause (frank) Vegas. Golden Knights suck. |

I gotta think a stud d would help the Leafs right off the bat. |
