If this team claims Ribeiro and ran him as 3C, our top-3 Cs would be rocking a 44.4, 44.6 and 41.2% success rate on the dot. Acquiring him would almost force us to swap Nuge and Leon's spots. This having been said, I'm not opposed to the idea. He's ineffective defensively but very capable on offense. He might be enough to spark Lucic and/or the 2nd PP unit while also giving us enough offensive power this year to consider swapping Eberle for a top-6 guy with a different, more balanced set of skills (ala Gallagher, Lee, E. Lindholm). |

They should of maybe CC'd the Hurricane owners on this as well. Hard to imagine the Islanders moving with their history |

Canes are for sale. Have been for a few years. They won't be sold to anyone who wants to move the team, though.
NHL might allow the Islanders to move, though, considering that the future of that team has been a complete circus for about a decade now. |

Lucic is too slow. When you can't keep up to the play anymore everything else falls apart. He misses assignments at his point, he is two steps behind entering the O-zone, he's the reason for odd-man rushes, etc. etc. etc. Unless he's going to run around like a maniac and create space for the whole line, he's just not effective anymore. I was hoping he would be better/faster than what I'd seen in Boston/LA in small doses...but no...he's way too slow.
He will play his last career NHL game in EDM. |

Asking because I have no clue...
How good/bad is Iginla these days?
I would love to see him step up and play a decent role on a cup contender...and of course I'd love to see that contender be EDM. (I think both are dreams though)
just curious what you guys think. |

From the little I've seen of him, I reckon he's very much in teh same camp as what you said about Lucic in your prior post. Not quite fast enough to get to the right places at the right time on a team whose strategy in built around chip and chase puck pursuit. I'm sure he'd manage just fine on a PP but I doubt he'd be a very productive addition overall. |

While I agree with some of this, I think it's important to realize that he's still 28. I believe he's entirely capable of an evolution akin to the one Maroon undertook this past offseason. Maybe dropping a few pounds could mean all the difference for his acceleration (which I view as the greater issue). A shift in approach for him to be better equipped to handle the evolution of NHL hockey. |

If you move Draisaitl to center I would assume he would become the second line center. This would move Nuge to third line center and making 6 mill/year would almost mean a ticket out of town would it not, if possible? |

Yeah i'd expect Draisaitl would be the 2C.
I think the team needs to move on from RNH. he's on pace for 40 points which is very low end 2nd line offense. He's in his 6th season and still can't take a faceoff. |

We'd have to ask Bruin fans how Lucic was foot speed wise.
The Lucic then looked so damn good on the highlight reel is because its usually only 5 second clips. Now you watch him on TV or in the stands every game and you realize the dude is slow as poop and probably always was. Basically just a boat anchor. |
