I just want a coach who is willing to implement an offensive system.

i too miss the run and gun days.

It's a crazy world when the Minnesota Wild are leading the West with an exciting team and the Canucks are at the bottom and can barely score.

Booner, I'm the epitome of patience, I just want to continue to build through the draft, which some seem opposed to.

You need the right collection of players to play that way if your goal is to win, the Canucks don't have those players. If the continue to build through the draft they will in about four years though.

But he's one of the winningest coaches in history, it's his playoff record that's somewhat suspect.

Not happening anyways.

- LeftCoaster

His glory days were the 90's. After that, it's the length of his career that accumulated his wins on a not so impressive track record.

None of that matters to me. I'd rather a players coach. I think the players are well aware of how much it sucks playing for Hitchcock. I would think there would be a sense of dread in our locker room if he were hired.

That only applies to Sedin and Edler as core. Burr and Hansen switched core positions. But again 4 players don't make the team. You have noted yourself how much this team has changed. With more coming. As much as you like to poke the Sedins they were not the problem then or now. They may not be your desired type of player but they help not hinder team development.
- Nuck4U

Really?

Burrows top line guy for years . Tanev top 4 guy for years . Hansen top 6 guy for years .

You're right they are not core players that played for all three coaches.

Silly me

We all want the same thing, a Cup winner, just differing opinions on how the process is going and how to get there.

No, you're right! Henrik Daniel Kesler Higgins Burrows Hansen Garrison Edler Bieksa and Hamhuis were all the core players under Tortorella.

Five are gone, but five remain, which in my books constitutes the same core is still here. Slowly transitioning to some younger guys now though. They have no choice.

46 years and counting.

We should have a special picnic for our 50 year anniversary.

No, I'm not either. Just threw it out there.

But I do think a more senior coach with a bit more clout would be better for this team considering the competency of the owner, prez, gm, captain, etc.

- bloatedmosquito

I'm not emotionally attached to WD myself. If they improved behind the bench, I'd welcome it. I just don't want a coach that has lost his players as many times as Hitchcock.

I dunno. He was well liked by the players, but we held on to that core for too long trying to win.
If we had moved out/in players regularly in an effort to keep improving (including so called core players) then perhaps things would have played out differently.

I think the team was stale more than the coach.

Well....let me rephrase that. Some who seem like they don't want lose with a purpose, any better? This notion, from a management perspective, of trying for the playoffs is ludicrous.

We've picked in the first round 4 times in the last 3 seasons. Patience.

He opened up their style as the the team got more talented but he still reverted to his defensive ways when winning or in tight games.

I'm not sure that's a good idea, I'm a big man and I don't think I could refrain from striking a few participation award winners here

I agree they don't have those players, which is also part of my gripe. This team is hesitant to draft or acquire offense first players for the most part.
