i think Torts has done pretty well this season...
- kaptaan

We ran AV out of town he takes his new team to the cup .

We run Torts out he takes a bottom team to the top.

Maybe the problem is our team

I knew my post would get one of two reactions; disinterest or scorn.

Oh well. On to the next one.

- bloatedmosquito

I think he'd be great for a young group! He's got a track record, he's got respect and he knows how to teach. Not sure he wants to continue coaching though?

Booners great, I like him, in fact, I like everyone here, although there's some HUGE flaming Nuck fans in here that give out participation awards to their kids and they're creating societies next great problem.

They, apparently, don't like me

I'm not sure about that, I think Karlsson takes a lot crap for not being good in his own end. Burns makes plenty of mistakes as well but people generally let it slide because he plays physical.
- belcherbd

Karlsson is a top 5 player in the league... and was trending to be the best at the time Matt Cooke decided to stomp on his achilles...

Home game and rested team is a plus for chances to get it done tonight. How to shut down Burns is key. Need to have a winger on him taking away his ice.

Big challenge to stay relevant. Flames did in Wild last night. So it's more necessary to get the points at home now.

I should have been clearer. We all discussed his limited abilities before the hit, some of us questioned why WD would even dress him after we all saw what he had to bring. I think the hit just confirmed it for me.

Sure, guys get rocked all the time but Dmen don't generally get rocked like that.

And it's not like Hall came out of no where. Larsen was completely unaware of what was happening around him. I guess he was focused on the task of digging the puck out from his skates. Lost track of time.

Has tearing up the KHL become some sort of benchmark? I don't think it is.

If your talking gamble, then sure, go ahead and trade 5ths for Larsens but I'm hoping JB give me more than just gambles.

- bloatedmosquito

There were definitely skepticism over Larsen. Guys posted that former Canuck Cam Barker led the KHL defense in scoring a few times, but the hope was that he would just be a better option than Bart, Weber, Biega until we could groom our next D. What was unexpected is the performances of Stecher and Tryamkin and the opportunity to trade for Gudbranson.

I think JB was in the position to take risks, he had a bare cupboard and saw the potential to trade a low-expectation draft pick for a player that could become a decent asset. I think now that our prospect pool is looking more solid, there is less of a need to take those gambles and use the injury opportunities to give AHL guys a chance

That's probably spot on. Hitch 10 years younger would have been great for our young guys.

I would love to have seen what he could mold Tree into! A bionic version of Derian Hatcher.

Just read the head-to-head matchup for tonight.

Leading point guy on Canucks Horvat/Sedin with 32 points. Leading point guy on Sharks... BRENT BURNS with 53 points.. Man that guy is a beast.

And taken 20th overall I would add

Sorry for missing the post reply. In regards to Donna's post about defensemen like Burns scoring that much. And yes, Burns is a beast.

A big loss would help the Team Tank gain some momentum.

Brent burns with 4 points tonight.

Panarin, Radulov, Zaitsev are all examples of guys coming back after tearing up the KHL this year. Obviously these are guys who have worked out but yes in short tearing up the KHL is a benchmark. It doesn't guarantee success but it is definitly worth paying attention to.

I haven't watch the Torres hit on Seabrook recently but I seem to remember that he didn't get a suspension because Seabrook had his head down looking for the puck as well. Good players still get caught watching sometimes.

I also hope JB gives me more than just gambles and have been pretty critical of his trade picks for older gambles mostly because we were trading something that had decent potential. I don't view a 5th as having much potential.

Whatever thoughts are on PL. depth D or #6 or go back to KHL. Hall did come out of nowhere. The play was in the other direction. Hall came in from the other side. It was talked about at the time. You can judge him for other things but this hit was just plain bad luck.

So...

I have not done any back-reading so not sure if this has been discussed, but I wonder what a coach like Hitch would do for a young, rebuilding team?

What would he do for the team's 'respectability'?

- bloatedmosquito

Considering it's usually the players who block him out, turn on him and get him fired over and over... not here please.
