6 Centres in top 10. Vilardi could be a realistic pick for us.
What I like about this consolidated ranking is the fact that Bob McKenzie's are included.
Edit: may have to scroll down to 2017 nhl draft consensus rankings - Reubenkincade
There is zero consistency after the top 6...interesting. Vilardi would provide a nice combo with Horvat and Sutter down the middle. |

If lijlegrin falls out of the top 4 i'd take him. If Van is drafting in the 5-6 spot. A lot more skilled forwards next season it looks like. If Van was trading someone like Hansen or Tanev, something with term i'd look at getting some picks for the 2018 draft. Looks like the Auston Matthews, Patrik Laine type players are in that draft. - manvanfan

I could see the Canucks finishing as the 3rd worst team in the NHL this year, unfortunately this year that only means they have the 4th best odds of winning the lottery. If they manage to not drop in the lottery I really like our chances of getting a solid centre to build around.
Patrick or Vilardi would be ideal. Both big bodies that fit the #1 centre criteria. As much as I love Horvat I think you need a bigger body centre so you can match up a bit better against some of the bigger centres.
Hischier and Mettelstadt would just be plain fun to watch. Mettelstadt looks like a Kane clone. Maybe not as high end skill, but his compete level seems really high.

Most scouts tend to compare him to Drew Doughty.
He's also one of a select few who could make the NHL as early as next season.
Definitely not what this team needs...

This would be huge. But it doesn't fit into that BPA strategy.

To be honest, I'm not to concerned about the lottery odds as long as we get into the top 5, the consensus being:
1.Patrick.
2.Hischier.
3.Lijlgren.
4.Vilardi.
5.Mittelstadt.
Any one of those guys would be a home run. This would be an extremely bad year to be picking 6th and over |

Yes finish was the difference. Or maybe add in Stone Wall Jones was that good in stopping the grade A chances.
The other two below BB not sure about their finish.
Yes definitely not a top 10 club. But can they climb out of bottom 10? To mid range perhaps. Right now got to beat out one of Kings and Blues. Hard. Plus Jets, Flames, Stars. Possible. All tight now. Looks like they all know the stakes and are pushing the wins.
With Sharks Canucks hung around but timing was off to be able to actually win. More like that over next 10 games it's all over. So let's see what they do against even stronger Wild. |

Assuming we don't have the option of Patrick or Hischier, he will undoubtedly be the BPA if he's still on the board when we select.

Top 5 also gives you the option to trade that pick for a need if the players available do not 'fit' your plan. A top 5 pick in any draft is worth a lot when you're wheeling and dealing.
I got a bad feeling we'll be picking in the teens. |

you've been watching too much CNN ... fake news... - kaptaan
I have given up on all those channels. I see what my local supermarket is selling and maybe a weather forecast here and there. The rest give me gas.

Who knows man, but it's not as though luck has ever really been on this franchises' side lol.
That said, we are only 2pts out of 27th place, 3 pts out of 28th with an extremely tough schedule on hand |

I'm more left than right but CNN has gone retarded. They started to insert adjectives in their presentation of the news regarding Trump. Fox News and CNN have definitely picked their sides. |

Van has to play SJ 4 more times. As much as I wanted this team to make a wild card spot. Too many injuries that this team could not afford. I'm for selling for off assests and recouping some picks. If teams are willing to give up firsts for players because of it being a "weaker" draft. I think it's a good time to sell a couple players. Pay a premium for a defence. Take it. |
