For all the praise the Sedins get around here ( rightfully so ) this is a comment that as a fan I would be tearing them apart for ...you aren't playing well together ...any other line in hockey would be split up if not producing ...what makes you so special ?
- Redmile247

I think most fans here know who is running the show. It is not the Sedins alone.

The Canucks core play a certain style and it is no use trying to change it in the late stages like this. You can't teach an old dog new tricks.

Ride it out.

The coach and the core look like they have committed to one another so let them finish it off.

It is mostly over after next year .

Pride? Being a bubble team is nothing to be proud of. Or did you mean I should have some group of Lions? Either way, I have pride in my own achievements. That's enough for me. I'd rather see the Canucks win a Stanley Cup, not so I can be proud but because it would give me great joy. Clearly you and I derive different things from watching hockey. Were you ashamed when the Canucks lost to the Bruins?

Yes, I was ashamed of their effort. Stripping the roster of all competent players and encouraging the kids to put in less effort is shameful. It's a disgrace to the City and Jersey. I am guessing you didn't play team sports? Or aren't a competitive person.

Never too high, never too low.
- dbot

Alright dbot Sedin. I wasn't responding to you. We can't all be switzerland Moderate Marty's like yourself. I was pretty sad, gutted I felt a little sick even. But shame... not that. That just seems odd to me. But if you're proud of your team winning, the logical inference is that you feel ashamed when they lose.

huh?

No, that was the distinction between the two.

Your's sounded like Bieksa was saying, dont' tell us how to play...which would be problematic, because the coach is the coach and determines how to play.

The actual quote was more 'don't try to motivate us by tearing a strip off of us', which is not about how to play, but how to work with or manage a certain group.

- dbot

Bieksa's quote was exactly telling the media we don't need a coach to come in here and lay the whip down . And that pissed me off . It is not a players job to do line up cards , tell the coach what system to use or who to put out on the PP.

This club needs a new system and a new boss . They just have to wait another year before they can begin

I don't get how you connect those two. Seem like different things to me.

I totally agree that we need a new system tho.
to WDs credit, he seems to be reducing the dependency on the Sedins...but maybe that's more because they've hit a dry spell.
Be interesting to see how they're deployed once Hansen is back, assuming they play together and compliment each other again.

I did play team sports, as I said I'm proud of my accomplishments. Felt ashamed if I had a bad game and let the guys down. No doubt about it. I love watching to capture a bit of that 'do it for eachother' feeling you get from playing in tourneys and stuff. I don't feel ashamed when other people don't accomplish something, that's just odd to me.

I'm just saying: what you're talking about is different. I didn't say don't try, I said trade older players with value and stockpile picks/prospects. You can try and lose, but you tried. I went into tourny's on bad teams and got smoked. I've also done the opposite. Still tried.

Disgrace blah blah blah. Buffalo, Edmonton and Toronto are going to be in the playoffs for the next 10 years. Starting next year (Edmonton and Toronto might both make it this year). Book it. Think they are ashamed of that? of tanking? Think Chicago is ashamed of tanking for Kane? The Pens for Crosby/Malkin? Edmonton for McDavid? Your thinking small potatoes, I'm think whole enchilada.

Those teams aren't ashamed of poop.

Still relevant to the country club, they are positive all the time which I dont think they should be. Remember Daniel calling out young players last year? That was a big deal because they never do and it sent a strong message. Its not much different than smashing a stick, it gets the team's attention.

I dont need guys to go crazy every game, but I think there are moments where they shouldnt look for the silver lining. That Arizona game before the break was awful, going 9 games without a win was bad, getting shutout 4 times in a 5 game stretch. As dbot says, maybe this stuff happens behind closed doors, but as a fan I wouldnt mind seeing some of that

- WhiteLie

I don't get how you equate that to Country Club. Is boot camp rhetoric more acceptable? It's not like they are not trying. Deployment issues lead to let downs.

This was a quote from two years ago so my wording would not be exact.

my quote Bieksa said two years ago "We don't need no coach coming in here and telling this veteran group how to play"

Bieksa's actual quote “I don’t think we need somebody to come in and crack the whip,”

This has nothing to do with the coach. None at all. They have gone through 3 of them now and the culture around the team is exactly the same because of the core. The "country club" is the culture, it is stale and needs to be energized

this bertuzzi statement is exactly what I am talking about. Sometimes it bites you in the ass yes, but sometimes it works out and this is a perfect example. Trade them for max value, before they start to diminish.
- Codes1087

he was a different story though. He'd have remained if not for the incident, suspension and declined following year. He was never the same again and nonis say that.

btw nonis wasnt great at much but he sure knew goaltending. He got us BOTH loungo and schneider in his only 2 goalie moves.

I know, but I've been waiting a while for a good opportunity to call Vantel Trump....now that I have I wish I had chosen a better opportunity.

The only thing that Trump and I have in common is our passion for Golden Showers by Blonde Busty Russian women and our desire to hit it with Ivanka .
