If you condone that as leadership then that's a poor example of what to do. As for game play they have been in almost all of them. Only a couple back to backs where they were drained of energy. WD didn't choose to add in players sitting out for boost. So don't know maybe it's a personality thing for you on players displaying emotions. Either way this is way off from being Country Club and where this discussion started. - Nuck4U
Still relevant to the country club, they are positive all the time which I dont think they should be. Remember Daniel calling out young players last year? That was a big deal because they never do and it sent a strong message. Its not much different than smashing a stick, it gets the team's attention.
I dont need guys to go crazy every game, but I think there are moments where they shouldnt look for the silver lining. That Arizona game before the break was awful, going 9 games without a win was bad, getting shutout 4 times in a 5 game stretch. As dbot says, maybe this stuff happens behind closed doors, but as a fan I wouldnt mind seeing some of that
Sure, he says their mindset has been "We're gonna get to the playoffs. We're gonna try to do that every night."
How does not getting a shot on goal for half a game against the worst team in the league not stir something in them? Or when they went winless in 9 games? Is that what a playoff team does or are they ok with missing it?
Dallas is a team that expected to be a playoff team and a cup contender. They are tied with Vancouver and this is how their captain reacted during a bad game:
Some will call it a tantrum or whatever, but I dont remember the last time I saw the Canucks frustrated with how they have played and there have been some embarrassingly bad moments - WhiteLie
Dorsett. Luongo's first game back at Rogers Arena with Florida. The Canucks spent more time hugging him than trying to score on him. That was the last time I saw a Canuck player truly pissed off.
the Bieksa quote was more, don't yell at us, we are a mature bunch and don't need to be scolded to be motivated.
Seems fairly different to me. - dbot
"I think we can handle it internally with the players" Aka fack off. I agree it's not quite the same as don't tell us how to play... but it's pretty close.
I'm not bipolar than that.
More even keel Sedin-like.
Never too high, never too low.
If we win, i'm stoked.
If we lose and get a good draft pick, i'm stoked.
i would never want to see the team intentionally put together a less competitive team in an effort to secure a lotto pick. - dbot
I just realized that as of saturday(?) we are going to start seeing a lot of weak goals for awhile as goalies will need to adjust to new pads. - Retinalz
Is it the pads too ? I heard about a week ago that after all the concern it's just the pants being adjusted mid season
Pride? Being a bubble team is nothing to be proud of. Or did you mean I should have some group of Lions? Either way, I have pride in my own achievements. That's enough for me. I'd rather see the Canucks win a Stanley Cup, not so I can be proud but because it would give me great joy. Clearly you and I derive different things from watching hockey. Were you ashamed when the Canucks lost to the Bruins?
And we won't forget Hanks quote this year when asked if he and his brother need to be Split up .
No that's not going to happen.
No use bringing in a coach at this point until he can do his job.
They all seem to be happy together and their contracts expire soon . As long as JB doesn't extend any of them that's fine - VANTEL
For all the praise the Sedins get around here ( rightfully so ) this is a comment that as a fan I would be tearing them apart for ...you aren't playing well together ...any other line in hockey would be split up if not producing ...what makes you so special ?

I did forget about Dorsett. He can be a hothead sometimes and do some stupid things, but that guy wont hold back if the team needs a wakeup call
I was fine with it. He moved a handful of non 1st rounders and got hits and misses on a couple of the trades. It served it's purpose. That strategy is not needed now. JB has said as much in his interviews this season. Of course, there's always the chance of a trade for a prospect or very young player being acquired if it fits the direction of this team. The days of gambling on Vey types are done I think. We now have our own prospects to work into the line up and are college/pro age. - boonerbuck

So it's the players job to tell the coach how to coach
I could have swore it was suppose to be the other way around - VANTEL
huh?
No, that was the distinction between the two.
Your's sounded like Bieksa was saying, dont' tell us how to play...which would be problematic, because the coach is the coach and determines how to play.
The actual quote was more 'don't try to motivate us by tearing a strip off of us', which is not about how to play, but how to work with or manage a certain group.
