Guess I didn't find your explanation very interesting then.
Do you always de-value a players stats because his team plays poor defensively or a run and gun style because if so you probably don't think much of Erik Karlsson. Or for that matter going back in time there WAS a pretty good player on run and gun teams that is known as the greatest player of all time.

- Reubenkincade

well first, I don't think as much of Karlsson as others do.

and the entire nhl was run and gun in the 80s for (frank) sakes.

already addressed. first, Nashville is looking to upgrade their centre. I guess they realize forsberg won't cut it.

second, I'm a leafs fan, and I have no issues with Austin matthews as number 1 centre going forward. yes I think he is of the caliber that can be number one centre on a cup winner. marner and nylander both also project into guys that can play second line on a top team, and kadri makes for a phenomenal 3rd line centre. hell he could play 2nd on a top team too.

the leafs have no issues at centre. or forward at all for that matter. the leafs have to shore up their defense.

If you're a leafs fan then f&*king advertise it, don't come in here sporting a Nashville tag and start ripping Bo Horvat - you're just kicking up a s&*t storm for no reason.

Prock is a well know Karlsson booster. One of his bigger fans actually.

I think he's rhe perfect dman for winning scoring races if you're not concerned with winning games.

see how positive I'm being?

it's even more ridiculous to look at that same player and think he's the 1c answer for a cup winning team.

2c may very well be his ceiling for a cup winning team.

maybe not. but if you're COUNTING on him for more than that you're setting yourself up for failure because he doesn't reasonably project to more than that.

- prock

When Bo was drafted he didn't project to be more then a 3LC. So you can take your projections and have Bo slam them down. He keeps getting better. So did Hank. These players are special in how they approach the game, work on improving and never give up. I'll take that and let it play out.

You can keep blabbing about what you think and how everyone isn't any good it doesn't make it true or correct. It's just another way of being delusional about righteousness.

Sorry to inform you of.this but at least 2 teams in the 80's did not play run.& gun. 1 being the Leafs, although they tried & the Canucks, who were well... let's forget about most of the 80's.

Correction...

The Leafs ran to the bank & held a gun to their fans head.

It's not as far off as people think. In reality, it's probably before, during or after the next ice age.

Climate change has all but ruled that out. But the Nucks they just need a savior.... know of any? Tankers are on hold.

I think for half the posters here, I'm not really kicking up any storm at all. They know what I say is true.

Then there are the ones that say:

- Tryamkin is ahead of Chara at the same age in his progress.
- Horvat is a number 1 centre, already got one, not a need for the Canucks anymore.
- closer to being a contender than everyone thinks.
- hoping to make the playoffs, maybe win a round, or two (hence, a top 4 team in the NHL)
- will still get a quality player at the 20th overall pick, even if somehow they don't win a round.

and those are the ones probably a little agitated. But seriously, how can you sit here reading this nonsense and go along with it?

You want some positivity? Something to look forward to? The Canucks have been spinning their wheels for about 5 years now. Going nowhere. Management will be forced to start the road to building a team again, within a year or two, because when the Sedins (remember those guys that the Canucks got.... by drafting very high?) and Miller retire, no matter how hard they try the Canucks will finish in the basement. And they'll get some top young talent they drastically need. All of this treading water can't last much longer. They'll bottom out soon enough. And only then things will start getting better.

Hank? Henrik Sedin? You don't think he was projected to be a number 1 centre when he was drafted? It's that what you're saying? Are you sure about that?

Just so we're clear, you think Bo Horvat's comparable is Henrik Sedin, because they just.... approach the game the same and never give up?

Sedin led his Swedish elite team in scoring (top 10 in the league) at 18 years old. 13 points in 7 games at the WJCs. He was clearly ahead of his peers at that age. One of these things is not like the other.

That's the Leaf model doesn't apply to other teams. Let's see if it works for you first on getting anywhere. Meantime this club is working on its next chapter of success.

Imo who cares about cups won in the 50's and 60's when there was 6 teams or whatever ...it's like being the top student in the slow kids group of 5/6

I'm more impressed by the Hawks, wings, Devils, Avs etc who have won multiple cups since the 90's expansion
