Kesler also plays a shutdown role ...Bo doesn't |

They're different players. Bo came into the league as a stronger person, Kesler looked a bit like a deer when he first came up. I'm all for Bo becoming as good as he can but calling him a #1 and better than Kesler is akin to calling Hutton a #3. |

Tanev is a 2-3 D not a 1 is my opinion
Depends on the team he is on. - Nighthawk
Ya Tanev is a 2-3 defenseman. Was talking about grouping players in categories ie: 2 way, offensive, defensive etc.
Using that logic & calling a person elite would top 4 or 5 in that role would Tanev be considered elite? |

Are you saying then then that you segregate into certain categories. Ie: 2 way like Toews Kopitar Bergeron Kesler being rated as elite 2.way centre's, Crosby just elite, Stamkos, Tavares types elite offensive centre's?
If using that type.of breakdown would Tanev not be considered elite as a defensive defenseman. - Reubenkincade
Yup, that's exactly how I feel. |

After watching the Prospects game on the weekend, did anyone feel like stock rose on certain players and fell on others?
I thought Rasmussen had some pretty good jump and maybe helped his ranking a little more. His speed is debated at times but some scouts even say it's decent for his size. It looked fine in the game. I have no doubt that he is a top 10 in this draft.
Ratcliffe made himself noticeable. Big and physical and strong with the puck. Opened the scoring on the PP. I thought he may have helped himself in the game. I think someone gets themselves a pretty good power forward taking him mid to late round.
I expected more from Tippet. He was pretty invisible 5 on 5. Got a late PP goal but I barely heard his name the first two periods.
The don't think the scouts were too excited about the goal tending. |

I'm not saying Bo won't be looked at as better or anything ...but people need to be realistic and patient ...kid looks like a good player |

I think everyone is being patient. I just find it rediculius to put a 2 C ceiling on a 21 year old who is leading our team in scoring |

Goaltending is never good in junior, it's rare to get good goaltending unless you have a Roy or Marc Andre-Fleury type prospect. Goaltenders take the longest to develop, like defensemen do, simply because that's the hardest position to play. |

I am not so sure thats the case anymore. As good as someone like Toews is, he is arguably not centering the Blackhawks' number one line.
You definitely need two centers on your roster though that can play on a top line if you wish to compete for a cup. I think Horvat in the short future could be the top line center on a number of NHL teams, but still means Vancouver needs another - WhiteLie
semantics. is your number 1 centre simple the guy who plays on the first ES line? the guy who gets the most ice overall? your best centre (who typically gets the most ice anyway)?
either way, Toews is better than Horvat. toews at his best is likely far, far better than Horvat ever will be. and the Hawks with toews at his current level aren't even winning a cup anyway. |

I actually sort of am. I think they're one of the best run teams in the league. they find talent very well and fare pretty decently for a budget team. |

it's even more ridiculous to look at that same player and think he's the 1c answer for a cup winning team.
2c may very well be his ceiling for a cup winning team.
maybe not. but if you're COUNTING on him for more than that you're setting yourself up for failure because he doesn't reasonably project to more than that. |
