JB didn't say win 1or 2 rounds the interviewer said it.
- Nighthawk
Well then the interviewer is an idiot, not your GM.
I suspect even the biggest of homers here know there is no chance is hell the Canucks make the conference finals (which would be winning two rounds).
2nd he said after the 1st few picks the top 20 had skill that would develop into quality. - Nighthawk
Quite simply, very unlikely. There has been 1 draft in the last 20 years that produced more quality players than career AHLers in the 20th pick range.
Was that the interviewer that said that again?

He's just not of the mold of a number 1 centre for a cup winning team. Unless you honestly think he projects into a player that deserves to be mentioned along the likes of Crosby, Toews, Kopitar, even Patrice Bergeron. |

I don't mind that he occasionally injects some reality into how good people "think" our young guys or prospects will be.
I 100% agree with him, despite how good I feel about Horvat, about the need for the Canucks to upgrade their center position going forward. I wanna win a GD Cup, upgrades all around are needed....center, wings, top four "D" and goaltending.

I actually think Horvat has a higher ceiling than Kesler...I also think we already have our future 1 C. - CanuckDon
Ease up on the spurs cowboy. Let's see Bo get a couple of playoffs under his belt first before we proclaim him as our future 1C. |

He's just never been a highly offensive player at any level, as I said, the kids awesome, Gillis found a good one there, but, great teams have great number one highly offensive centres, as a general rule of thumb.
Even when Kesler was having his best seasons the team still needed a number one in Henrik to be an elite team, which they were! Kesler couldn't have gotten the Canucks to where Henrik and Kesler together did. - LeftCoaster
He may hit 50 points this year. He is the 36th ranked center in the league by points...and he is 21! High end 2nd line Center production already. Are you assuming that he won't add to his totals in the coming years?

How would you classify a "true" number one center? Are there 31 in the league? 10? Not every number 1 center is a Mcdavid, Crosby, Scheiffle etc. There are 31 teams that have to put somebody out on the first line |

I don't peg players by line numbers only results at the end of the day.
I leave it to others pigeon holing players. All that matters is winning &
I don't over analyze it or go the degree others like to. I prefer line combos not its individual parts. Takes 3 players to make any line click whatever the role they r put in. Nobody envisioned Burrows or Hansen complimenting the Sedins the way they did & r & nobody calls them 1st line talent.

I think he tops out as a 75'ish point player at his very best, that's my opinion. You wanna win a Cup, you'd better get another Horvat and have strong wings and defence or get yourself a true number one. |

He probably will add to those totals.
FYI, that's also partially because the Canucks have played more games than most, he's closer to 60 in terms of points per game though.
It's still doubtful he turns into an elite centre. Doubtful is being quite kind for me. What was the last team to win a cup without an elite first line centre? Some of them have multiples...... |

I think they're a good comparison but I see nothing that indicates Horvat will be better than Kesler? Despite Kesler's douchieness he's still one helluva a player, even to this day, he's having a great season.
On the #1 comment, you need a guy who's way more skilled than Horvat if you truly wannna win a Cup. The kids awesome and he's just a great person, but he'll always be a number two on a good team. - LeftCoaster
I think Horvat will have higher offensive numbers, maybe not have a 40g season(though henrik did have a 29h season, you never know) but Bo uses his linemates more than Kes did, this will likely lead to a better overall career. |

Not really all that interested. I just can't help it. When I see....
Nikita Tryamkin progressing better than Zdeno Chara at the same age.
the Canucks hope to make the playoffs, and maybe win a round, or maybe make it to the conference finals.
If that doesn't work, we'll just pick up a quality NHLer with our 20th overall pick (which almost suggests a first round exit is worst case scenario this year)....
I can't help but think that someone is on drugs. |

If you want to look at PPG he is 43rd on the list. Although, his durability and games played is a further plus |

I guess you're right, I should be phrasing it differently as every team has a number one center, but you should be able to understand what I mean? No team in my memory has won a Stanley Cup without elite players...none.
I'm not gonna belabour the point but yes you need players like the guys you mentioned if you want to win. Just because Horvat could be 'our' number one, doesn't mean he's a number one that's gonna lead you to a Cup.
Thus my comments you need a better center than Bo if you wanna win a Cup. |

54th actually. But there are a couple of guys at the top of that list you can probably take off, because they've played 1 or 2 games.

In my opinion, the measuring stick should be top teams. Cup contenders. If you're a building team, do you have your first line centre spot taken care of? Can you compete for a cup with the guy you have slotted in on the first line?
If not, then no, you need to upgrade your number 1 centre spot. You don't have your first line centre.
Everything should be looked at in terms of what holes have to be filled. |

For sure I know what you mean...but only half the teams in the league have a star number one so it may not happen for us. I'd be very pleased with two Horvat's leading the top lines. |
