uhh, well, for starters, despite the fact that the majority of the Leafs core is under the age of 23, they have more points in less games. Their pts% puts them just outside the top 10 in the league, and the Canucks are bottom 10.
Is there some sort of mythical way the Canucks are ahead that I'm not aware of? - prock

They have a goalie and a lot of assets and cap space to find D ...not to mention some good D prospects - Redmile247
True but other than Shattenkirk where to look?
D prospects r yet to be proven. Now a team like Philly or the Ducks or Preds

besides the fact that "ahead" does not require something to be finished, even beyond this year's standings, you're out to lunch if you think the Canucks have much, if anything really, on the Leafs at this point.
I don't know why this has turned into something about the Leafs though.
I peaked in and saw some absurd statements. Pointed out that they're literally insane.
Now, I know you didn't make those statements, but surely you understand that things like Tryamkin ahead of Chara at the same age, Canucks going for conference finals this year, but will be happy picking up a quality player at 20th overall if they don't, etc, is maybe just a little ridiculous, do'nt you?
And by just a little ridiculous, I mean utterly insane. |

Seriously 1990? That's nearly 30 years ago. Who.gives a (frank) about that? At best, I think salary cap era should be the only cups we care about. Wipe all previous ones off and deny they even occurred.
Only then, can we move forward as fans of hockey - walshyleafsfan
To be honest the only Stanley Cup that matters is this years, next year is another story. |

Meh. Who cares about cups 20 odd years ago? (frank) that. After 2010. That's when it really counts. - walshyleafsfan
Realistically speaking, all cups before the expansion are pretty much meaningless. Sicne Vancouver entered the league(also around the time it became a league and stopped being a circle jerk club, not because of van just because of the amount of teams) Toronto has consistently been among the worst teams. With no accomplishments. Sure van may never win a cup, same with Toronto, Winnipeg, etc etc etc. But we actually have things to take pride in, 3 extremely competitive years where we went to the SCF, many player trophies inc Art Ross, Pres trophies, a player to hit 1000 points all in our jersey(of all the players to hit this mark, not as many as you'd think did it all for one team) Henrik is also amongst the top players in the history of the league to play as many games as he has with just 1 team. Daniel is not far behind him. What does Toronto have? |

FYI when i met Sittler when he was a rookie i began to follow the Leafs & actually them. But once again that miserly tyrant Ballard screwed it all up & Sittler went on to Philly & Lanny to the Flames. That was the last straw. I won't ever like the Leafs til management gives their fans what they so dearly have paid for & wanted for so long.
I'll even forgive both the Leafs & Habs from holding back Vancouver from joinIng the NHL in the original expansion. |

Well i saw Keon lead the Leafs in '67.
Then Ballard & his cronies screwed it up royally.

Seriously, every Cup win matters, it's history and it's important. Do I think it's a lot harder to win it now, obviously!
Horvat is gonna be a very good player for the Canucks for a long time!
During the 70's Sittler was my favourite player. |

As for Alzner i predict he resigns with the Caps. |

A pretty good Centre produced 15 g, 34 a, 49 pts, 82 games in age 21 season. Currently sits 5th in points this season. Mark Scheiffle.
Bo Horvat in age 21 season so far: 14g 18a 32 pts in 50 games, almost exactly the same pace as Scheiffle in age 21 season.
Way too early to tell Bo's ceiling.
Another good Centre in the mix is sorely needed but again so are wingers defense and another goalie. - Reubenkincade
Great breakdown and reasoning. Did you hear about BB being tried out at center? Remember when Linden came in as RW into the League and was converted to be a center later. Took team to SCF playing there. Well perhaps BB could develop that way in a center role with a better shot and release? He's got the hockey IQ it seems to play center in an effective way. Could give Nucks options.
Anyway, still believe the team is getting younger and upgrading. Another high end center could be found next couple drafts. JB's going to concentrate on the draft to work on more improvements. May stock up with a few trades here and there too. Or acquire a prospect needing a break. Plus a few surprises with young free agents who can get a shot at filling a role. |

Much like Horvat, Boeser would need to work really hard on his skating to be a center in the NHL. |

He's just not of the mold of a number 1 centre for a cup winning team. Unless you honestly think he projects into a player that deserves to be mentioned along the likes of Crosby, Toews, Kopitar, even Patrice Bergeron. - prock
