i was in favour of keeping willie until the end of the season and then doing whole sale changes with the coaching staff.

however, with the emergence of a top tier candidate, i'm inclined to make the change now.

give hitchcock the head coaching gig with the instructions to institute and implement a new system (i feel yucky using that term). let him create his own coaching staff (keep the old ones until the off season) with an eye to a replacement. obviously, this would be done in conjunction with TL and JB.

in a year or two, hitchcock moves upstairs to an agm or vp gig.

*caveat being that while hitchcock is a winner, he doesn't produce the most exciting product*

- RealityChecker

Hitchcock announced last summer that he was retiring from coaching after this season. Said he may be interested in a managerial position in the future. Also, Hitchcock is not making this present team a contender now nor next year.

What do you guys think of Tanev for Tyler johnson or Palat? TB needs d and probably cant resign one of them
- neem55

No thx rather go for Drouin JT Miller or Duchesne personally.

so if it's one of Hansen, Granlund and Sven. Which do you choose?

Hansen is the easy choice IMO, but curious if anyone thinks otherwise.

- neem55

Don't particularly care so long as it's not Sven

jesus as first line centre with the holy spirit as his winger couldn't make this team a contender.

i still think the team needs to

"not wanting to go out like this" to me doesnt say switch to managerial role. That would be along the lines of a "new challenge". If he was able to ride out the season I think he would be ok but I am sure there is an incomplete feeling with Hitch.

Also more chefs in the kitchen doesnt mean better results. As good a mind as Hitch has, I would pass on him. Notoriously hated by his players

- WhiteLie

Guess it depends on fit. Working relationships are a matter of chemistry, respect and application. I only bring it up as the streamlined approach to date hasn't added to results. Perhaps more input may help. But again we don't know what Hitch wants as well.

I think people here have got to get rid of the Duchene wish. It would cost our first this year plus OJ

The bar level has taken a beating for years as a Canuck. That is why the team is getting worst and worst. It need to start to be raised.

Sven Granlund Hansen Sutter are all fine third liners . That is not insulting them. As long as they are our second line we will be on the bottom half of the standings.

- VANTEL

Well then I suggest you get with the tank sir, were not getting two elite level guys to play on our first two lines like Chi/Pitt VIA trade. We arguably have one in Bo. might have one in Boeser, might not.

I really think Palat would play well on Bo's wing, one of the best defensive wingers in the league. Very underrated.

I have a friend who is a visible minority and at his work, a very multicultural place, they have some coding

white is a wonderful person
black is a beautiful person
asian is an awesome or amazing person (can't remember which)
etc...

anyway, it sounded like a nice way to describe someone without sounding racist or bigoted..

with the JW thing, lock the door, turn out the lights, close the curtains, evade and ignore...

But only one of those players are actually available. Drouin is off the market and Miller never has been. Duchene I would certainly be into, I have posted him for Tanev+ being a possibility. I think Colorado would want a first though, not sure that worth it for this team at this point or not.

I actually know someone they converted. First time I've actually heard it working for them. Dumb as a post, but still.

yeah apparently Sakic wants a 1st, a top 4 D AND a prospect in return - the guys outta his mind - reminds me Steve Y last year in the Drouin situation

It appears Stevie was not quite out of his mind though, Drouin looks like the real deal to me.

My thought was could Hitch do this working or directing WD now? As in a managerial role that has him working with coaching. Then move onto doing same for Comets roster so future call ups are all on board.

I agree Palat would be a nice pick up and it looks like a reasonable offer for Tanev.

Canucks will pick up a nice addition this year with the top 20 pick. There is no player a team should be tanking for this year but there are lots of good players.

I think even in the fifth round this year there are players available that would be an upgrade over what we have.

I heard there is a rule that if you don't have kids, only one of the couple is allowed to work or something like that.

anyway, I find it strange in a way, or common, that in religion and life, people choose what rules they want to follow and ignore the rest.

i don't think so either. just saying what i would like.

this team needs a total reset. hitchcock is a guy who can come in and do exactly that.

it won't happen b/c the team keeps wallowing in mediocrity.

for sure...good points.

Arizona & Av's is a stretch.
BO has Burrows n just fine.
Hansen back with the Sedins worked.

- Nighthawk

Was looking for more then fine so Bo can be No.1 line. So options are LE and Hansen to increase offense.

Good god, please no.

His 'systems' are the equivalent of watching paint dry.
If he couldn't find success with a very, very good Blues roster, who's to say he will be any better here, with a much more inferior roster to work with?

Imo picking higher in the second and third round is very important too, no one really know what players are worth tanking for. I'll be happy if we end up with a scoring winger like Tippet or Popagaev, but I'd be happier with a top5 in each round as the picks are more valuable trade/draft chips to work with.
