If they sign one of your free agents then you don't lose anyone at the draft. You only lose one player to Vegas - VANTEL
Sure, but i don't think Vegas will be after Miller, Burrows or Larsen when Sbisa, Hansen or Granlund are available and already under contract. |

If they sign via free agency then they aren't yours ...they are free to sign anywhere - Redmile247
They are not UFA s until July first so they are still in fact yours. Elliotte Freidman came out and discussed then about a month ago. |

They might have interest in Miller. |

One would have to believe they wouldn't sign a guy and lose the ability to take another player unless it's an impact player tbey are signing |

Sure, but there is no two-way exchange of assets.
Thus, what would the official league record show?
Vancouver trades 2nd to Vegas for the protection of Luca Sbisa?
Then it's binding? - Whiskey-Tango
I am sure it is either considered pending until the moment arrives where they can actually move picks (Vegas wont actually own the pick in the eyes of the league until the transfer is completed), or its listed as complete but with conditions, like how they handle conditional draft picks/player to be named on regular trades.
That all being said, they can still make deals with Vegas after the trade deadline. That is only in place as the last day to trade players so they are eligible for playoffs. We saw a couple deals during the playoffs last year I believe, so no reason Vegas cant still be involved |

Sbisa has one year left and then is a free agent . That is a risk for them also. They can negotiate and extend an UFA prior to the draft.

They can also pick granlund and then sign Miller July 1 |

Yes
But July 1 st Miller is no longer a Canucks and Canucks still only give up one player to Vegas |

King Hendrik sucking again
Aho with hat trick
Leafs losing already
Glad the allstar break is over and there's some real hockey again

My point was why would Vegas try and sign a free agent before the draft ...makes little sense when they can wait and get another player to go with the free agent

If they sign the free agent before the 1 st they get first crack at him. After the first of July they have 30 other teams to compete with to sign the UFA |

He's got 4 more years at 8.5 per
Miller is a free agent ...I'd take a run at him |

Don't be surprised if Jim extends Miller for 4 more years at 8.5 too |

Wouldn't surprise me if Miller can't get a deal close to his wife if he says (frank) it and asks for something along those lines |

I think Miller will try and sign a short contract with a cup contender.
Anaheim/SJ sort of thing. |

i'd think he'd want more than that.

Both the ducks and sharks have low cap hit goalies too so it could be doable but he might not play much

My thoughts exactly.
Could be some good tandems there.
....or he could sign in Calgary... |

Yeah, if we can't move Edler Tanev is the next best choice. - A_SteamingLombardi
I keep trying to think who could be a possible trade partner for Edler to waive and I keep coming back to the Rangers. They have a shot at the cup but their Defence isn't great. McDonagh, Holden, Skjei, Girardi, Staal. Surprisingly, they've only used 7 D all year so they arnt injury prone, BUT they also don't have much depth to call upon in Hartford either.
They have the cap space and a ton of scoring up front, IF they sent someone like Kevin Hayes or JT Miller back our way...
wishful thinking |
