more to it than just a sick dog. It's his sons dog of over 10 years and his son is deployed. All star games/competitions are a joke anyway, I have no problem with him leaving a league cash grab event for something more important
- Codes1087

Still sounds like a sick dog to me, nothing more.
He's a jerk and this just adds to the list of things that is wrong with him.

sad.

lucky to have a job where he can leave to take care of the matter.

as per the cash grab, I think cash is very important to Torts, this is the guy who lived in Point Roberts to pay less taxes, or I could have it wrong.

anyway, good for him.

I dont mean falling a few spots, particularly after 15 its hard to project those numbers perfectly. I was mostly referring to those who are potential top 5 picks falling outside the top 10, like a Grigorenko for example
- WhiteLie

For what it's worth, you quoted me who was talking about a couple of guys falling 5 or 6 spots and you said you were leery. You also were talking about picking 5-15. That's why I mentioned guys falling a few spots out of the top 10. I wouldnt be too leery of that. Not when the picking 15-31 are so poop.

Players who climbed quickly recently are Tippet and Rasmussen.

I don't do projections. In fact I tend to be harsh to people who do comparisons or projections. Tryamkin is Tryamkin and I am just happy to watch him play and smash people!

Forsling was. Gaudette seems to be a great late pick.
"Boeser is one of the best players not playing in the NHL right now" - Button (for what it is worth).

Patience my friend.

First round picks usually aren't found diamonds in the rough. Talking star players that are picked in the 4th round of lower pretty much.

His dog is 10, should be happy she lived that long. Great Danes aren't as fortunate.

Torts does a ton of stuff for charity. He has his own charity with his wife for animals. I don't blame him one bit. F*CK the all star festivities anyway.

At least he didn't have to fake an injury.

I'm only going off what I read as well but I thought most scouts were saying great shot, fast but not able to do much else.

Sounds a bit like Jake to me

- belcherbd

I read good playmaker pretty hard to tell without actually watching a few complete games

He should be suspended one game for skipping it. They do that for players, should do the same for coaches.

why is it wrong that he went home to CBJ to tend to his son's ailing dog, instead of spending his free time at an event that means nothing?

Forsling playing 32 games as a 20 year old rookie on a decent hawks D team is a tremendous accomplishment.
Forsling also putting up 4 points in the AHL in 9 games is not a bad start either. I am not going to project him to be anything, but what he has done so far at 20 is nothing to cry over. Still wish we had him!

- Codes1087

I am not criticizing him. Looks like a decent prospect. But he has played in the NHL because Chicago has been traded away some of their top prospects and they are strained against the cap

I am talking about a cash grab for the league. I don't think coaches get bonus's for being picked to be at the all star game like player bonus's?

No I know you weren't criticizing. I just had a look at his overall stats and it made me a bit sad to know we gave up on him pretty quick. Great work for Jim Benning and crew to spot him in the 5th round.

It means nothing to do you, but that doesn't mean it means nothing to the city of LA, Kings fans and thousands of kids that love watching the game. It's not up to him to decide if it's important or not, it's his (frank)ing job. He is such an arrogant self centred piece of poop, this just gets my blood boiling when he does poop like this.

I'm not saying lottery pick, I don't think we end up top-5 that's why I started talking about some of the lower guys in the first place. This is all assuming we pick in the 5-15 range.

We are officially a bubble team

- neem55

Well a lottery pick is 15 or higher.

maybe I'm thinking trickle down economics, the league makes money, they get to pay their coaches big salaries.

anyway, I guess if it works for him, good for him. it just sounds like a different reality from mine and many people.

poor dog.

Yes, it was a lousy trade. It seemed like a gem at the time because Clendening was dominating in the AHL but he was just too slow. The scouts deserve some criticism for not noticing this

Yeah I thought I had seen a few early mock drafts where Mittlestadt and Liljegren were top 5-6, so thats where I was leery of grabbing those guys in the 15 range, especially if there were climbers in the same range.

I havent got too closely into this draft this year, so I am sure JB will make the right call, I just am a little suspicious of fallers thanks to Shink and a few others

I hope his dogs aren't sick when they want to give him the Jack Adams.
