Must have something to do with players getting familiar with each other and the roles they play. This team had a pretty big turnover from the previous season, plus Evan has moved up depth chart receiving more ice time from what has been reported in utica website.
Could be interesting next season with another turnover to make room for "another batch" of Benning draft choices. I expect to see Zhukenhov, Stukel, Jasek, Abols, McKenzie, Nieĺl, and Olson playing in Utica or Alaska.
Maybe we also get Boeser, Gaudette & Lockwood as well. Green will have lots of new players coming into the system over the next few seasons.

You advocate high draft picks everyday to make a rebuild. Yet you throw a young one out because he had a set back in training plus injury and some WD issues? Getting him in power forward mode requires him to play with the right mix. Plus up his game in learnig the detail of postioning and timing. He has the talent just needs some know how which is key for his success. At least wait until he gets a real shot before writing him off.

You guys are comical , on a serious note I knew bennet wasn't ready his first year just by watching him and I told some buds in cow town and they laughed, he had some success early but I could tell he was going to struggle.

Q&A for some common themes running on the threads.

Q1) Will this team change style only and if the Sedins are gone?

Answer: The coach creates the style through his deployments and systems play. The Sedins only play to their strengths for offense on their line. But they still follow what the HC wants.

Q2) if more high end talent comes in by drafting does it not take at least 3 years from draft day for an impact in the line up?

Answer: yes drafting takes time to develop most players. Only saviors come out right away and those generational players are rare and lotto lucky to land.

Q3) what else must a team do in a rebuild?

Answer: trade assets for upgrades in talent to fill holes or needs. Pick up more draft picks for depth players by trading established vets.

Notes:
Maybe players like Sven, Granlund and JV are used as trade chips in the future or fill in the top 9. Or form a 3rd line in a few years when other 1st rounders take over top 6. Who knows? But having them makes the Canucks better not worse in moving forward.
