How do you know the lineup in two years? - VANTEL
Is this a serious question? One would assume with current contract commitments and drafted players I could come up with a list of 70% of the players that'll be on the team in two years. It's not that difficult to figure out.
The other 30% is the caveat. |
|
|
|
Of course. But when you're at the bottom of the league, or near the bottom, which we have been for two years, drafting is all that much more important. - LeftCoaster
I am nitpicking but drafting is important every year. That i how teams become bottom feeders is by not having players in the system ready to replace. |

I will imagine Canucks will have made 2 significant trades by then and 2 significant draft picks . Plus the fact they will have 14 mil in cap space . That could be 6 significant players plus maybe Boeser Demko or OJ .
A lot can happen in two years. |

I don't know about a lot in terms of being impactful players, but a lot it terms of the poop at the bottom. They've replaced last years poop with this years poop, Megna, Chaput, Skille, Gaunce, Larsen, Rodin, Gudbranson, Boucher etc. etc. |

I think Benning may have drafted someone to replace the fourth liners.
Your comment stated when the Sedins leave we will be the worst team. That is right up their with the experts prediction Canucks will end with 63 points this year.
You can't fix everything in one year. Benning has been fixing a little bit every year so lets wait until two more years comes around.

That was my point exactly, it takes multiple years of building to produce a competitive team, something I was trying to convey to Hawk. His stance was we're fine right where we sit, I call bullpoop, we're not fine, there's plenty of work to be done.
It's gonna take another three to five years of drafting to even be remotely competitive post Sedin. The chances of signing a ufa in his prime, like Tavares, is almost nil, thus I stand by my prediction. |

I am not complaining at all even though it may come across as it on here.
Manvanfan said today he hopes the Canucks become the CBJs . Their players are faster and meaner and play a different style. It is not going to happen
Posters on here saying we will get a top 5 pick. The Sedins will keep us in the .500 range not the .300 range . That is actually a compliment
I said they create as much scoring chances as they give up. That is fact everyone gets old .
I see the Canucks honoring the existing contracts of all the vets. So people hoping for top picks IMO is pretty unlikely and we will change our style and culture in three years. - VANTEL
It's hard to convey everything across a keyboard and screen, I understand. A lot of these conversations would be more fun around a table with several drinks although I would worry about the safety of some including myself. |

Definitely a lot to be done , but we do have more in place than people think we do.
I imagine in 2018 -2019 when the Twins leave Jake will be ready at least to be a third liner to replace Megna . Maybe Lebate might be a fourth liner by then . Dorsett will be better choice than one of our current fourth liners.
I am sure Bo will be more dominant. Maybe by then Ericksson might be comfortable with the Canucks and find his rythym by then? |

You need highend players to win, not plugs like Virtanen and Labate, something in short supply when you're talking about the Canucks. |

Is that why they have the second best win percentage in the OHL? London's regular goalie is out. |

They have not played a very good game. OJ is never ever going to clear the front of the net. Better keep Gudbranson. |

I think I found out why London sucks today. They don't have Robert Thomas, Alex Formenton, Max Jones, Cliff Pu, Sam Meltic, and Victor Mete not playing. |

Sorry NH I don't see anyof that happening.
Avs are looking for a young Dman , Tanev is not young
Habs won't give 2 seconds for Hansen. One maybe not two. |
