And even if we did "settle" for picking one id rather wait 3 years for a sure fire high end defencemen than go through what we did between 2008-2012.

Sabres have 36 games left this year. 20 of those games are against teams that are in the playoffs right now. (MTL x 2, TOR x 3, NYR, OTT x 2, PIT x 2, CBJ x 3, SJS x 2, ANA x 2, STL, CHI, NSH). Going to have to really have turned things around to get in this year.

Preds have as much depth and have apparently decided to cut from the top rather than from the bottom. I would look at NSH

Ekholm is on an incredibly reasonable contract for how good he is, so i doubt they would move him. That leaves Matt Irwin as the only LHD, although Ryan Ellis is a nice RHD.

How about Chychrun. You would have to give up a good amount, but he would be a really nice fit. I'm hesitant to give away first round picks, but he would be an exception (assuming the pick was lottery protected)
